champions league t20 Deepankar Sharda Tribune News Service
Chandigarh, September 16 While the Punjab team is confident to begin their campaign with a win on its home turf, Hobart Hurricanes are looking forward to test the nerves of their rivals. While speaking to the media, managements of Hobart Hurricanes and another visiting side, South Africa’s Sunfoil Dolphin, said their matches will be exciting. Hobart Hurricanes coach Damien Wright said the team is in a great form and playing in different conditions will not disturb the team’s performance. “We are looking forward to our opening game with the hosts and our players are working hard for the tie,” said Wright. Skipper Tim Paine said the team is capable of playing excellent cricket, even under unfavourable conditions. “We as a team are looking forward to this challenge. It wouldn’t be an easy task to perform. But the rules are simple — play hard, even under extreme conditions, and perform. Lance Klusener, coach of the Sunfoil Dolphin squad, will use his past experience of playing in India to help the team stand tall in the face of all odds. The team is scheduled to face Perth Scorchers in their opening game on September 20. “The team has enough time to acclimatise with the weather of the Indian subcontinent. We are not relying on one or two individuals to win the matches. Rather, we believe in collective efforts. The bowlers will play an important role and we have prepared a good bunch for the tournament,” said Klusener. “As a team, we are performing well and are confident of continuing to play good cricket. Playing here, in the Indian conditions, will be an entirely different experience and senior players are expected to play bigger roles,” said 35-year-old skipper Morne van Wyk. |
