Man commits suicide by jumping before train:
A man committed suicide by jumping before a train on Wednesday night. As per the available information, Sahara Jan Sewa volunteers reached the Maur station from where they went to the GRP post in-charge Paramjit Singh. When they reached the spot, they found the body but it could not be identified.

Habit-forming drugs seized, one held: The Canal Colony police arrested a man and recovered habit-forming drugs from him. The accused has been identified as Dimple, a resident of Dhillon Basti. The police recovered 500 capsules of parvonspas besides 160 other capsules.

Three booked for assault: The police booked three persons for assaulting a resident of Harraipur village over a land dispute. In a complaint to the police, Veerpal Kaur said she was attacked by Sandeep Singh, Karnail Singh of Harraipur village and Bhuri Kaur of Kotli Kalan village. A case under Sections, 452, 323 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code has been registered in this connection.

Motorcycle snatched: The Sangat police booked a person for snatching a motorcycle. Jasvir Singh, a resident of Chuge Khurd, alleged that he was going to Macchena village from Pakka Kalan when the accused, Buta Singh, stopped him and snatched his motorcycle. A case under Section 341, 382 of the IPC has been registered.

Dalit women clash with cops:
A group of Dalit women, led by Poonam Kangra, state general secretary of the Punjab Youth Congress, on Thursday clashed with the police outside the DC’s office here. They were protesting against the non-distribution of blue cards. They raised slogans against the state government. Pritam Singh Johal, Additional Deputy Commissioner, pacified the protesters, assuring them of early action.

Census Week:
A census week was celebrated at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 33-D. The event commenced with the celebration of the National Population Day, poster-making and slogan-writing competition for the students of Classes VI to X. Information regarding the census was displayed on the school notice board.

E-pension system:
The Haryana Finance Department has issued instructions concerning functioning of the Centralised Pension Disbursement Cell, which has been created for implementing the e-pension system in the state. Instructions were issued regarding responsibilities of the treasury officers and assistant treasury officers.

Test postponed: The Haryana Public Service Commission has postponed the screening test for the post of 'A' Class Naib Tehsildar scheduled to be held on July 27. The next date of the test would be announced later.

Relief for students: The Haryana Industrial Training Department has allowed students of Government Industrial Training Institutes having 79% attendance to appear in the exam to be conducted in July by giving relaxation of 1%.

Foot overbridge  inaugurated in court:
A foot overbridge between the court complex and chambers of advocates, a long-awaited project of the District Bar Association, was inaugurated on Thursday by Justice SK Mittal, chairperson of the building committee of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

UP man killed in Rewari mishap:
Vishal of Bulandshahr (UP) was killed and 12 others were injured when an auto-rickshaw collided with a jeep near Bithwana village on the Rewari-Bawal road last night. The jeep driver fled, but has been booked for rash driving.

A one-day training camp was conducted for the micro observers appointed for the coming byelections in the state at the district collectorate office here today. Om Prakash Bakoria, observor appointed by the ECI, trained the officials.
