Abohar
2 run over by bus:
Vinod Kumar (45) and Rajveer (24) of Khyaliwala village died as their motorcycle was run over by a Haryana Roadways bus on Sriganganagar-Hanumangarh road in Rajasthan on Sunday. The bus driver fled the spot. A case has been registered.

Batala
Vehicle thieves arrested:
The Batala police claimed to have busted an inter-state gang of vehicle thieves with the arrest of its two members. The police have recovered four SUVs from their possession.

Barnala
Guard commits suicide
: A 28-year-old security guard, who worked at a godown on Sekha Road here, hung himself on the godown premises on Saturday night. The police said they were yet to ascertain as to why Pardeep Singh committed suicide. He worked for the ICICI Bank. A case has been registered.

Two killed in mishaps
: Two persons were killed in different incidents in the district during the past 24 hours. The victims were identified as Jagveer Singh and Liaqat Ali Ahmad, residents of Boparai Baaz Singh village in Amritsar and Ladwa (near Kurukshetra), respectively.

Gurdaspur
Trader robbed of Rs 18 lakh
: Rajpura-based plywood trader Harinder Singh was robbed of Rs 18 lakh by some youths near Bhumbli village on the Kahnuwan-Dhariwal road in the district on Sunday. A case has been registered and the accused are still at large. 

PHAGWARA
Rs 6 lakh looted
: Two unidentified motorcyclists shot at and injured an employee of a trading firm in the grain market and took away a bag containing Rs 6 lakh on Saturday. Victim Baljit was going to Allahabad Bank to deposit cash when the robbers struck. Baljit received two gunshots in the legs.

Sangrur
Two die in roof collapse
: Two labourers, Ram Kumar and Subhash, were killed when the roof of a shop under construction collapsed at Khanauri, 60 km from here, on Sunday. Another labourer, Satpal, was seriously injured in the incident. Three others were also injured.

Tarn Taran
Man held with 7 kg heroin:
The Chohla Sahib police claimed to have arrested Dalbir Singh of Bhai Ladhu village in Bhikhiwind with 7 kg of heroin at Rahal Chahal village on Saturday evening. The heroin was worth Rs 35 crore in the international market. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act.

Installation ceremony
: The Rotaract Club Chandigarh Himalayan held its installation ceremony at the Golden Jubilee Hall in Panjab University here on Saturday. Past presidents of the club Ishaan Jain, Yogesh Grover and Gaganpreet Singh felicitated rotaractors. New president Bhavesh Dhoundial unveiled his panel for 2014-15. Infosys Q1 revenue up 13%: Infosys has reported quarter one revenue growth at 13.3 per cent. In the financial year 2014-15, the revenues are expected to grow by 7-9 per cent in USD terms and 5.6-7.6 per cent in INR terms, said an official statement issued by the company on Sunday evening.

Samsung launches new Appstore: Samsung Electronics has launched its new application hub, ‘Samsung GALAXY Apps’. The store hosts 500 quality curated Apps, 300 of which will be India centric and 200 global.

ICAI certificate course: The Chandigarh branch of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) on Saturday started its two-day ‘Certificate Course on Valuation’. A selective band of 40 CAs attended the course, which was organised under the aegis of the corporate law committee of the ICAI. — TNS

Kaithal
Headmaster held:
The headmaster of a private school at Nouch village of Kaithal district has been arrested on the charge of cheating and threatening a girl student. The accused was produced in a court which sent him to judicial custody. A police spokesperson said Ritu was handed over the wrong marksheet of arts subjects whereas she was a student of non-medical. She persuaded the headmaster to give her the right marksheet a DMC in non-medical subjects but he said he could not do anything. He instead threatened her with dire consequences.

Panipat
Medical camp held:
A free medical camp was organised by Prem Multi Speciality Hospital at Bishan Sarup Colony on Sunday. Dr Pankaj Mutneja, Chairman and Managing Director of the hospital, said the camp was organised to mark the 36th foundation day of the 100-bedded hospital.

Sonepat
3 killed in mishap:
Three persons, including a couple and their one-and-a-half-year-old grandson, were killed after their car hit a parked truck on the Rohtak-Gohana-Panipat national highway on Friday. The deceased have been identified as Devender, his wife Urmila and grandson Love of Rukhi village. Urmi and Love died on the spot while Devender succumbed to his injuries.

Yamunanagar
2 commit suicide:
A boy and a girl from Mandebar Majri village committed suicide by jumping in front of a train on Saturday. They were identified as Rahul (20) and Mumtesh (17). They were from the same community. Their bodies were found near the Jagadhri railway workshop. The bodies were handed over to their families. The police have registered a case in this regard.

Motorcyclist dies in mishap:
A motorcyclist, a resident of Habba Kadal, died after he was hit by a passenger cab in Sonawar locality of the city here, the police said on Sunday. Adil Ahmad Shakhsa got injured when the motorcycle which he was riding on was hit by the cab, a police spokesman said. He was shifted to the SMHS hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The police said it had registered a case. In another incident, a five-year-old boy died in an accident in remote Kargil district. The boy has been identified as Mohammad Hanif. — TNS

Sericulture dept building damaged in fire: A government building that housed the sericulture department got damaged in a fire incident at Solina here, the police said on Sunday. The fire broke out on Saturday in an abandoned building that housed the sericulture department at Solina. The fire was brought under control with the help of fire tenders. The building got partially damaged in the incident, the police said. — TNS
