Tanker overturns while negotiating turn at Majri Chowk
Panchkula, May 20
A JCB machine removes the tanker that overturned at Majri Chowk in Panchkula on Tuesday morning Traffic at the intersection of the Ambala-Kalka and the Yamunanagar-Panchkula highway was disrupted for hours after a tanker carrying soap slurry (liquid form of soap) overturned at Majri Chowk here last night. This is the third time in the last two months that a loaded heavy vehicle overturned at the spot. A tanker ferrying soap-slurry from Varanasi (UP) to Baddi in Himachal Pradesh met with an accident at about 2.30 am. The tanker driver, Rajkumar, said as the vehicle slowly overturned to its left, he managed to jump out to safety.

In contrast to the students of private schools from Chandigarh — who scored a perfect 10 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) this year, which is nearly 624 — the number of students from government schools getting a perfect score is only 24.

Not too many CGPA10 in tricity this year

As compared to last year, the number of tricity students scoring a perfect 10 CGPA in the Class X CBSE exam has come down drastically this year. While last year, 1,369 students scored CGPA 10, this year, only 1,200 students could manage a perfect 10.

Bringing joy and laurels to her parents, she has given them hope that she too can have a bright future.Under pressure to prove herself to the world Vasudha scored 8.6 CGPA in the examination. “I am happy to score good marks. Hopefully, I will continue to perform the same in the near future” said elated Vasudha.

The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Arun Kumar Singal today convicted Kulwinder Singh, Nirmal Singh and Tirath Singh Cheema, all residents of Jalandhar, in a case of drug peddling. The court will pronounce the quantum of punishment on May 22.

Youths set car on fire, sustain burn injuries

Two persons sustained burn injuries while attempting to set a car on fire yesterday night. Sunny Sharma sustained around 60 per cent burn injuries, while his co-accused, Sevin Kumar, sustained minor burn injuries on his arm when the duo was setting the car of one Amarjit Singh on fire last night.
