Punjab Government to auction mining sites
Dera Bassi, February 16 The Mining Department of Mohali district has decided to auction the nine mining sites in the nearby Ghaggar on February 24 and 25. The District mining officer, DP Bhagat, said the sites in the Ghaggar near Dera Bassi and Banur would be auctioned on February 24 and 25 to check the shortage of construction material. Talking about getting environmental clearance from the Central Ministry of Environment, he said contractors concerned would get it on their own after auction. Notably, many sites in the Ghaggar and other rivers of the state were lying blocked in the absence of the environment nod. The district administration has set up a stockyard at the Grain Market in Banur to ensure proper supply of sand and gravel on reasonable rates. Deputy Commissioner Tejinderpal Singh Sidhu said with the setting up of the stockyard at Banur, people would get construction material on reasonable rates and illegal mining and black marketing would be stopped. The Deputy Commissioner said any person could book construction material by contacting phone numbers 01762251446 and 8054635454, The DC added that officials concerned had been appointed to check the illegal mining. |

Now, the spectators are left with only one option and that is to eat chips,” stated Amayara, another spectator. She added, “With no other option in hand, we are eating chips. Injury forces Jeev to miss golf tourney
Chandigarh, February 16 Jeev Milkha Singh was at the Chandigarh Golf Club, to inaugurate the new water hazard on the 6th hole of the course. In addition to this, he also launched the new golf cart hiring scheme. In this scheme 4 new "Club Car" Golf Carts will be made available for the members. The carts can be hired for 9 holes or for 18 holes. With this facility the members would not need to buy their own independent carts which turn out to be expensive. "Chandigarh Golf Club is my home ground and I am happy to see that the club is providing all facilities for local budding golfers. The new water hazard will also help the professional golfers like me," said Singh. "With introduction of this water hazard the existing hole no 6 will be more challenging and picturesque hole to play. To add a level of difficulty it was decided by the committee to have a water hazard which would give a risk reward option to the long hitters and professional golfers. The water hazard has a surface area of approximately 8,000 sq feet and is fed by tertiary water. The depth of the water hazard has been kept to a maximum of 5 feet to make it safe," said Bobby Sandhu, Captain of the Chandigarh Golf Club. No plan to join AAP
During an interaction, Jeev Milkha Singh denied any possibility of joining the Aam Aadmi Party. According to him, the news of his family joining the AAP was just a rumour. “I have nothing to do with politics, neither is my father (Milkha Singh) interested in politics. It was a rumour,” said Singh. |
