Rally on leprosy awareness held: An awareness rally on leprosy was flagged off by Hoshiarpur Civil Surgeon Dr Surjit Singh on Friday. The students of Government Multi-Purpose Health Workers School participated in the rally. Distributing literature on leprosy, Dr Singh said it was a curable disease.

Income Tax Dept holds workshop: An awareness workshop on TDS/TCS provisions was organised by the Income Tax Department, Chandigarh, at Harpal Tiwana Theatre for Performing Arts in Patiala on Friday. HC Negi, Commissioner of Income Tax (TDS), Chandigarh, highlighted that 40 per cent of the contribution to the central exchequer was through TDS/TCS.

Govt employees stage dharna:
On the call of Punjab Mulazam Sangharash Committee, a large number of employees of various government departments held a dharna outside the District Administrative Complex on Friday. They demanded that dearness allowance installment be released and their services
regularised. Swaranjit Singh, district convener of the committee, said they would soon hold a statewide agitation over the issue.
