Change in school timings: Keeping in view the winter season, the state government has decided to change the timings of all the government and aided senior secondary and primary schools with immediate effect. State Education Minister Sikandar Singh Maluka said the timing of the elementary schools would be 10 am to 3 pm while the timing of the higher and senior secondary schools would be 9.45am to 3.45 pm.

3 booked for liquor supply: The police have booked three people on a charge of supplying liquor in a bottle of soft drink to a jail inmate. The accused, Anil Kumar, Sahib Ram, Raju, have been booked under the Excise Act and the Jail Manual Act. They allegedly made an attempt to supply liquor to jail inmate Sagar at the local sub-jail here.

Gagandev. Dr Raj Kumar and Dr Shashi Gupta were booked under the PNDT Act. Claiming that it was the first such case in the state that has been filed in court this year, Patiala Civil Surgeon Dr Virinder Singh Mohi said Gagandev had allegedly forced his wife Rama Jindal to undergo a sex determination test at Rajan Nursing Home.

CPI ex-MLA from Dhuri dies: A former CPI MLA from Dhuri Comrade Achhra Singh Guara (77) today died after a prolonged illness at his native Guara village, about 15 km from
Dhuri. He remained an MLA from 1972 to 1977. He was cremated in Guara village. A member of the CPI national executive, Dr Joginder
Dayal, said the party had lost a dedicated worker and leader. He said Guara was a man of the masses, who worked for the welfare of labourers and farmers.
