St Kabir lift trophy
Chandigarh, December 13 It was a tough battle between the two schools. Both teams were well balanced. In the first half, Sujal of Saupin’s was outstanding in the match. Arjit of St Kabir played a stellar role in the victory of his team. Saupin’s boys drew the first blood in the 12th minute of the game. Saupin was leading by a goal in the first half of the game. In the second half, Kabir’s boys started the game on a positive note and Arjun, Arjit and Shaurya of St Kabir put a lot of pressure on Saupin’s golie. Kabir’s boys missed as many as six chances to score. However in the 60th minute, Arjit dribbled passed four defenders of Saupin’s and gave a gem of pass to Chaitanya who deftly placed the ball in goal post. The match however went into extra time after 1-1 score. Extra time also ended without any result. In the penalty shootout, Arjit, Chetanya, Gautam and Shreyas scored for St Kabir, Saupin’s Gurnoor was only one to score. St Kabir won the final match by 5-2 goals. |
Saupin’s School defeat Chandigarh Baptist
Chandigarh, December 13 Chandigarh Baptist School won the toss and elected to field first. Saupin’s School scored 284 for 5 in 30 overs. Varun Bhatnagar scored 102 runs in 56 balls, Manan Chadda scored 82 runs and Prabhjeet scored 30 runs. Arshdeep Singh took 2 wickets for 42 runs and Ritik Shukla 1 for 64. Baptist School could not chase the score and bundled out on 166 in 21.3 overs. Karanvir Singh scored 93 in just 50 balls but could not get the support of other team members. Varun Bhatnagar of Saupin’s School took three wickets for 30 runs and Prabhjeet Singh took 2 for 5 runs. St. Stephen’s School, Sector 45, Chandigarh will play against Ball Nikatan School, Panchkula, tomorrow. Vishav, Jasmine win titles
Chandigarh, December 13 Jaskirat emerged as winner for boys’ under-15 category. Udayveer won 800-m race under-13 for boys and in girls under-14 category Neha Maddi was the winner. In the 400 m race under-11 boys’ category, Sartaj emerged as winner and Aasees won in girls’ category. Ayush and Priyanshu won the 400 m boys and girls category respectively under-14 category. The 400 x100 m relay under-11 girls was won collectively by Monty, Simarat , Nandini and Kirti whereas for under-15 category, it was won by Gulveen, Prakriti, Simran and Harshdeep. |

Mount Carmel, Chandigarh Baptist to clash for title
Chandigarh, December 13 First semi final was held yesterday. In the second semi final today, Mount Carmel, Sector 47, entered final beating Saupin’s School, Sector 32, by 9 wickets. The fine bating performance by Ramandeep Singh who scored 108 runs in 64 balls helped the team to win. Battling first, Saupin’s School piled up 138 score for 9 in stipulated 20 overs. In reply, the winning team easily won the match in 18 overs, thanks to a fine performance of the Ramandeep Singh. Under-14 category matches of the 16th Blessed Edmund Rice Cricket Tournament has also begun. Tomorrow two teams- St Soldiers, Sector 28, and Manav Mangal Smart School, Mohali, will play against each other Brief score Saupin’s School, Sector 32:138 / 9 in 20 overs Manau 39, Aayush 25, Raman 4/28. Canines to walk the ramp on Dec 15
Chandigarh, December 13 The prominent breeds participating in the dog show include Shih Tzu, Shar Pei, Miniature Pinscher, Pekingese, Miniature Poodle, Welsh Corgi, Siberian Husky, Wire Haired Daschund, Saluki, Neapolitan Mastiff, Mull Mastiff and many more. Informing about the dog show, chairman of the Chandigarh Kennel Club GS Bahia said three new breeds Akita (A Japanese Watch Dog), Borzoi (Russian Fox Hound), Chow Chow (a Chinese Utility Dog) and an American Fox Hound would be the attraction of the show. President of the club GS Sidhu said more than 400 entries are expected. He informed FCI approved international judges including Rita Kadike Skadina from Latvia and Mukul Vaid from India will judge the whole show. KK Sharma, adviser to UT Administrator, will be the chief guest. Organisers also informed that UT Animal Husbandry department would hold free anti-rabies camp for dogs at the venue. Enables and dogs accessory stalls have also been planned for the convenience of general public. There is no entry fee for the visitors. In order to promote the show in adjoining states, Chandigarh Kennel club is also holding its next show in Ambala on February 23 next year. |
