Chandigarh, November 21
The Punjab and Haryana High Court today directed the Chandigarh Administration to provide basic amenities to residents of Dhanas Milk Colony, without failure. At the same time, the bench refused to interfere in the conversion of premises allowed by the Administration.

Disposing of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by colony residents, the High Court directed the Administration to ensure that the basic amenities and other facilities required to breed cattle were provided.

The petitioners had earlier challenged the UT Administration’s decision to allow the colony’s use for residential purposes on payment of Rs 1,000 per square yard.
