Action against chowpati owners from next week: Civic body
Ludhiana, November 16
From next week onwards, the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation is all set to start action against illegal chowpatis located in different parts of the city. On November 6, the MC had issued notices to Chowpati owners and had said that action would be taken if the violators failed to follow building bylaws and get a CLU (change of land use) certificates within 72 hours.

21-yr-old woman dies of dengue

One patient died of dengue in Ludhiana district, while 19 tested positive at different hospitals of the district.

New lease of life for 16 leprosy patients

Sixteen leprosy patients, who have developed certain deformities in their limbs, were selected for reconstructive surgery during a state-level camp organised by the State Health Society (leprosy), Chandigarh, at Lord Mahavir Civil Hospital, Ludhiana, today.

No sops for Punjab industry, says minister

Rejecting the demand of the Punjab Government to give sops to Punjab like Himachal Pardesh and Jammu and Kashmir, to attract the industry, the Central Minister of Commerce and Industry, Anand Sharma, said these sops were meant only for hill states while talking to The Tribune during his visit to Cordia Group of Institutes at Sanghol.

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal being honoured by AG Thomas, Director, CMC, during the 21st National Conference of the Association of Medical Biochemists of India in Ludhiana To ensure early detection of diseases and their timely cure, the Punjab Government would soon evolve a diagnostic and laboratory testing system at least once in a year for every person in the state.

Ludhiana: Hans Raj Hans, a renowned Punjabi singer, said there should be a censor board in Punjab to keep a check on vulgar songs. He was in the city on Friday to address a press conference before a sufi night.He said, "Sufi singers are those who have lived with Sufi saints and have learnt sufi singing." He said that he too joined commercial singing but came back to sufi singing as he feels much contented while singing sufi kalam.
