Fazilka
Herion worth RS 25 cr seized
: The BSF foiled a drug-smuggling bid in Fazilka area on Thursday. Though the accused managed to flee, the BSF seized 5 kg of heroin worth Rs 25 crore from near the barbed wire fencing.
AK Sharma, Deputy Inspector General, BSF, said some movement was noticed near Jagannath border out-post around 4.30 am. When challenged, the intruders fled towards Pakistan side, taking advantage of the darkness and standing paddy crop. The contraband was found after a search.

Four arrested for kidnapping child
: Four persons, including a woman, have been arrested on the charges of kidnapping three-year-old Dhruv, grandson of Guruharsahai-based Industrialist Ashok Kumar Vohra, from his school two days ago. The child was recovered within hours of the kidnapping from the outskirts of the town. Among the accused are Iqbal Singh Pala, Jaspal Singh Bubby, Jaswinder Singh and Pinky. 

17 booked for drug peddling, spying: The police has booked 17 persons for their alleged role in cross-border drug peddling and espionage for Pakistan. The accused have been booked under various sections of the NDPS Act, Arms Act, Official Secrets Act, Customs Act at the Sadar police station here.

Youth found dead at Basti Jodhewal
: A 23-year-old youth was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the Basti Jodhewal area here on Thursday. The deceased has been identified as Davinder Singh of New Subash Nagar. According to his parents, he had left the house on Wednesday along with his friend and his body was found at Basti Jodhewal Chowk.

SHO, chowki in charge sent to Police Lines: The Division No. 2 SHO, Kuldeep Singh Kang, and chowki in charge Kulwant Chand were today sent to the Police Lines for dereliction of duty. The action was taken against them after the father-son duo of Balvir and Lalit alleged that they were assaulted outside the Miller Gunj chowki. Besides, the police has booked Ashok Kumar Shanty, Monty, Ravi Dhawan, Ganesh, Gopal, Gaurav, Ramme Shah, Ashok Chaudhary, Manmohan Dang, Dinesh Dhawan, Balvir , Ravinder, Bhupesh and Nand Sahota for manhandling police officers on duty.

Worker dies in roof collapse: A labourer was killed while his colleague injured after they fall of the roof of a house under construction at Gurdev Nagar. The victim has been identified as Nimber Ram. The incident took place in the afternoon when the roof collapsed suddenly. Nimber died instantly while his colleague was taken to a hospital.

Man accuses mother of harassing wife: Mostly, husbands side with their mothers in cases where newly wed girls are harassed, but in a virtual aberration, a man has sided with his wife and filed a complaint against his mother. Surinder Singh said his mother harassed his wife Kulwinder Kaur by demanding more dowry. He added besides demanding more dowry, she often lodged false complaints against the girl with the police.

Toddlers organise baby show
:The SD Vidya Toddlers organised a baby show here recently. The show was categorised for two different age groups i.e. from one to three years and three to five years.Anil Kumar Kathpal, Divisional Railway Manager, Ambala Division, was the chief guest on the occasion. The baby show was a fantastic live entertainment and experience for the little ones and their parents.

: The Prisons Department website, www.haryanaprisons.gov.in, was launched by Director-General (Prisons) Yash Pal today. It was developed and uploaded as per provisions of the Punjab Jail Manual. It has information about the Prisons Department, including administrative set-up, telephone directory of officers with e-mail IDs, facilities for prisoners, prison staff rules, prison and jail statistics.

Woman killed in mishap
: Manju(30) was killed on the Karnal-Kaithal road when a tractor-trailer hit the her cycle on Thursday. She succumbed to her injuries on the way to hospital. The driver of the tractor-trailer fled the scene. A case has been registered. 

Child sodomised: A four-year-old child was sodomised allegedly by a youth in Ariapura village of Karnal on Thursday. The victim , who was playing on the street, was picked up Monu, a tailor, and sodomised. The police has booked the accused.

Three booked
: The police has booked three persons for allegedly misbehaving, threatening and intimidating a woman. The police said the woman had alleged that Gurmeet, Chapa and Leela - all residents of Adhoya village , had misbehaved with her and passed derogatory remarks against her parents. 

Blood camp: As many as 55 units of blood were donated at the 23rd blood donation camp here. The camp was inaugurated by Pawan Chaudhary, district president HUDA Resident Welfare Association, at LNJP Hospital here on Wednesday.

Padyatra
: Sirsa MP and AICC secretary Ashok Tanwar flagged off the 'padyatra' of HPCC delegate Hoshiari Lal Sharma to mark Gandhi Jayanti. Sharma and his supporters took out the 'padyatra' from Congress Bhawan to Phoolka village, about 20 kilometres from here. Hundreds of Congress workers welcomed the 'padyatra' on the way. The 'padyatra' led to a traffic blockade on the Begu road.

Rajouri
Grenade defused in Rajouri
: A live grenade was today recovered from Bharone village of the Thanamandi area in Rajouri district. It was later defused by security forces. Sources say a farmer, Zakir Hussain, spotted a live grenade in his field this morning and immediately informed the police. The police and the 38 Rashtriya Rifles rushed to the spot and defused the grenade, thereby averting a major tragedy.
