160 judges shifted: The Punjab and Haryana High Court today ordered the transfer of 160 judges and judicial officers in the two states.This is the first time that so many judges, 90 in Punjab and 70 in Haryana, have been transferred by the High Court in one go.

Man killed: Ishar Singh was brutally murdered with sharp edged weapons by two other villagers in Kahna-Dhesian village on Thursday night. One of the accused identified as Balihar Singh also sustained injuries. He was attacked by brother of the deceased. Deepa another accused managed to escape. The police has registered a case under Sections 302 and 34 of the IPC against the accused.

1 dies in accident: A man identified as Balbir Singh was killed on the spot while Jiwan Kumar sustained serious injuries when their truck carrying milk rammed into another truck near Jamalpur village between Phagwara and Goraya on the National Highway at wee hours today.

Sept 17 holiday in 3 MC wards: The government has declared September 17 as a holiday in view of the municipal byelections to ward 1 of the Jind Municipal Council, ward 8 of the Sirsa Municipal Council and Ward 13 of the Ellenabad Municipal Committee. An official spokesman said the government had notified a public holiday on September 17 for all shops and commercial establishments falling within the jurisdiction limits of these wards.

Kurukshetra
2 POs arrested: Two proclaimed offenders-- Chanana Singh of Jivan Kaur Plot, Landakheri, Kaithal, and Sheeshpal of Jheel, Jind-- have been arrested. Both were produced in the court, which remanded them in judicial custody.

New SP: Y. Puran Kumar, SP, Yamunanagar, took over as SP, Kurukshetra, here on Friday in place of Rakesh Kumar Arya, who has been transferred as such to Palwal.
