Rs 4.68 cr undisclosed income seized from 3 hospitals in P’kula

An undisclosed income of Rs 4.68 crore was seized from three hospitals in a survey conducted by the Income Tax Department, Panchkula. The survey was a 38-hour long operation, which concluded this evening.
Only 15% women avail of free bus facility

Confusion over Rakhi continues to prevail. Since the free bus service was made available to women today, those celebrating the festival tomorrow will not be able to avail it.
Only 15 per cent of women passengers availed of the facility here this morning from the Sector 5 bus stand,
Panchkula. On Rakhi day, the Haryana government allows women to travel free of cost all over the state. The government had provided the facility today.
Blood donation
Women enthusiastic, but unfit: Docs

Even as city women are keen on donating blood, very few have been found fit to do so. If the pattern observed by doctors at Government Medical College and Hospital
(GMCH), Sector 32, is something to go by, only 10 per cent women are deemed fit for blood donation.
In 50 blood donation camps organised by the hospitals across the city in the last four months, 90 per cent of women volunteers were not allowed to donate blood due to low haemoglobin
(HB) level, indicating anemia risk.
6 Kala Kachha gang members arrested

Dead trees pose threat to residents

With the proposal of cutting dead and dangerous trees hanging fire, such trees continue to pose a threat to the city residents and commuters.
Last year, the Municipal Corporation, in consultation with the UT Forest Department, had sent a report to the UT Administration, recommending that 200 dead and 128 dangerous trees should be axed
immediately.

Respite for buyers: Onion prices come down by Rs 10
Chandigarh, August 20
Onion prices have come down by Rs 10 per kg. The price had shot up to Rs 60.
Vegetable prices had gone up last week after heavy rains had hit the supplies. Vegetable vendors, however, stated that the prices might go up again.
"The prices may go up due to inclement weather," said Rana, a vegetable vendor in Sector 15.
The hike in the prices had left the residents
