Heroin seized:
The CIA staff has arrested Raj Singh and Barkat Singh of Wahabwala village under the NDPS Act. During search, 15 gm of heroin was seized from their possession. However, one accomplice of the duo managed to flee, the police said.

4 IAS, PCS officers transferred:
The Punjab Government has issued posting and transfer orders of two IAS and as many PCS officers. Harbhupinder Singh has been posted as Labour Commissioner; Harkesh Singh Sidhu as Special Secretary, Labour; Bakhtawar Singh as SDM, Lehra in addition to SDM, Moonak; and Ravinder Singh has been posted as SDM, Khadur Sahib.

Iron ore scam: Notice to IAS officer: The Punjab Government has issued a notice to 1989 batch IAS officer Kripa Shankar Saroj, seeking his reply to the punishment recommended against him by the UPSC. Saroj has been accused of financial irregularities in an iron ore purchase scam during his stint in the Punjab Agro Industries Corporation. The government, after conducting an inquiry against him, had found him guilty and recommended his case for punishment to the UPSC.

BJYM holds anti-Pak protest:
Hundreds of activists of the Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha on Wednesday held a protest against the killing of five Indian soldiers along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. The activists burnt effigies of Pakistan and the UPA Government for its alleged failure on the security front. The protesters marched from Gol Chowk to bus stand. Due to the protest, the authorities had to divert the Lahore-Delhi bus.

BBMB gets power producer award:
The Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) has got the best hydro power producer award. The award, constituted by Independent Power Producers Association of India (IPPAI), was received by BBMB chairman AB Agrawal from Union Additional Secretary, Power, Devendra Chaudhry, at Goa for excellent performance during 2012-13. The BBMB consistently surpassed generation targets set by the CEA by 10 per cent to 25 per cent during the last three years. It also achieved all time high machine availability of 95.6 per cent.

Life term for two in murder case:
Additional Sessions Judge Virinder Aggarwal on Wednesday awarded life imprisonment to Amrik Singh and Rajinder Kaur alias Meeto. Both the convicts had murdered a woman in June 2011 to rob her ornaments and buried her body in the courtyard of their rented house. A case was registered at the Dhuri Sadar police station.

Heroin worth Rs 175 cr seized:
A team of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) reportedly seized 35 kg of heroin worth Rs 175 crore from Bhucher Kalan village on Wednesday. Sources said Jagga Singh of Emma Mallhia village had been arrested. The team seized 35 packets of 1 kg each. The consignment bore the stamp of Afghanistan. An Innova vehicle has also been seized. Sukhdev Singh Lokarka, Chabal Station House Officer said the local police was not informed by the DRI team which conducted its raid in the early hours on Wednesday.
