Abducted girl’s relatives attack kin of accused

The convention of the district unit of the Democratic Teachers Front (DTF) was organised here at JSFH Khalsa High School today. State DTF president Bhupinder Singh Warraich presided over the function. A resolution was passed to condemn the implication of its state executive member Germanjit Singh, a lecturer in Tarn Taran district, into false and fabricated case allegedly under the pressure of the political leaders of the ruling party and demanded immediate deletion of his name from the FIR.

Abducted girl’s relatives attack kin of accused

Tarn Taran, July 14
Family members of a teenaged girl, who was abducted from Marrimegha village, attacked the family of the main accused in the abduction case in Malmohri village, 10 km from here.

The boy had allegedly lured the girl on the pretext of marrying her.

Both the families have been booked by the police. Inder Singh, father of the abducted girl, has been arrested.

However, the girl’s family succeeded in recovering the girl and the main accused. Inder Singh was produced before the court here today and has been sent on a three-day police remand.

According to the information, the girl was abducted from her house on June 24. The police had then registered a case under Sections 363, 366 A and 120 B of the IPC. The accused have been identified as Surinder Singh Laddi, Sakattar Singh, his son Tarsem Singh and wife Karamjit Kaur of Malmohri village, besides two unidentified persons.

The father of the abducted girl, with his 12 other relatives, attacked the house of Sakattar Singh in Malmohri village with weapons and abducted him while injuring his daughter-in-law.

The girl was recovered from Mudki in Faridkot.

Teachers’ convention

The election of the district unit was also held. Balvir Kumar was unanimously elected district president. Besides, Kuldip Singh Jethumazara (general secretary), Tarlochan Singh (vice-president), Surinder Pal (finance secretary), Mulakh Raj (joint secretary), Ajay Kumar Chahar Mazara (press secretary), Sucha Ram (organising secretary) were elected unanimously. — OC
