Robbers make failed bid to break into ATMs
Ambala, June 11 The robbers disconnected the CCTV camera and also broke the cover of the ATM, but could not take any cash from it. Some of the tools, including a cutter and screwdrivers, used to break the machine were recovered from the spot. Senior manager, Syndicate Bank, BM Gulati said he got the information about the robbery bid around 2 am, from an employee of the hotel on the ground floor of which the bank is located. Axis Bank reported the bid in the evening. The police has registered a case against unknown robbers. |

Pbi team visits Mohindra college
Patiala, June 11 Notably, Government Mohindra College, Patiala, is
going to offer new courses namely BSc Agriculture, BCom Professional and
Diploma in Hardware and Networking from the coming academic session
(2013-14) to students. The college authorities had applied to Punjabi
University to give permission to start these courses. The Punjab
Government has already granted the permission to run these
courses. College principal Dr Sukhbir Singh Thind welcomed the team and

15 students get placements
Dera Bassi, June 11 In the pre-placement talk, Tanya, HR manager of the company, told the students about various products of the company. After the pre-placement talk, interviews were conducted in which 50 students took part. Finally, 15 students were selected after the interviews. Prof Avtar Singh, chairman, Sukhmani Group, welcomed the company officials and complimented them for recruiting young and dynamic technocrats. |

Two students hit by Skoda, injured
Chandigarh, June 11 The accused has been identified as Shammi Khakhar, a resident of Mansa Devi Complex, Sector 4, Panchkula, and he was driving a Skoda car bearing registration number CH-01-AM-0802.
The accused fled from the spot and was arrested near Sector 7. The victim’s family alleged that the students were hit by one of the two cars that were racing with one another. The victim’s father alleged that Gagandeep had called him to inform after the accident that they were hit by a car. However, the police denied the allegations. A case of rash driving and causing hurt by an act endangering life or personal safety of others has been registered against the accused under Sections 279 and 337 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Sector 3 police station. The accused was later released on bail. |

JE caught taking bribe
Chandigarh, June 11 The accused, Jitender Prasad, was caught red handed while taking bribe near the Housing Board intersection in Mani Majra. The Vigilance Cell received a complaint from a Mani Majra-based shopkeeper Gulshan Kumar that the JE was demanding bribe to waive off the fine for tampering with the seals of the electricity metre. DSP (Vigilance) JL Meena said that the JE told the complainant that since he had tampered with the electricity metre, he was liable to pay a fine of Rs 2.11 lakh. As Gulshan Kumar expressed his inability to pay such a huge amount, the JE asked him to pay Rs 50,000 as bribe of remittance of the fine amount.The deal was then settled for Rs 20,000 and Gulshan Kumar had already paid one installment of Rs 5,000 earlier. He had come to pay the second installment today when he complained to the Vigilance Cell. The accused has been booked under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and will be produced in the court tomorrow. Senior officials under scanner

Chandigarh, June 11 Only Pulkit could reach the double figures with his contribution of 11 runs, followed by Rahul Prasad, who scored 9 runs. While rest of the team completely failed to put up any respectable total on the board. For the bowling side, Satyam Sharma claimed four wickets for 12 runs, while Tavleen Singh supported him well by claiming three wickets for 13. Other than these two, Prabal Sharma chipped in with two wickets for seven runs. In their reply, the Chandigarh team scored 107 runs for the loss of wickets at the end of the match. Chandigarh, June 11 After winning the toss, the Rohtak team posted 254 runs in 24 overs. For them, Shubham scored a useful 61 runs, including 10 boundaries and 2 sixes. Aashish played a 44-run knock, studded with 8 boundaries, while Akshay scored 27 runs, including two boundaries and two sixes. For the bowling side, Vaibav claimed 4 for 63, while Ayush and Ankit claimed two-wickets each. In reply, the Faridabad Cricket Association could manage to score only 126 runs for 5 wickets in 32 overs before rain poured in. Ankit (45 runs), Robin (32 runs) and Krishna (25 runs) were the substantial scorers for their team. For the bowling side Mohit and Shubham claimed two-wickets each.
