Patiala students make YPS proud in Class X, XII exams
Patiala, May 20 Chahat attributed her success to the international exposure she got during a six-month student exchange visit to Japan in 2011. For Sehajbir, hard work and an inspiring visit to the NASA Space Centre in Florida last year helped in excelling in the exam. The toppers thanked the school faculty for inspiring them to reach such great heights. Harpinder Singh and Navi Joshi, both science students, shared the third position, scoring 96.75 per cent marks.

Fatehgarh Sahib, May 20 The NGOs should take inspiration from the Trust and also extend their base in the field of selfless social service, said Justice Nirmal Singh (retd), MLA, Bassi Pathana, while addressing a function organised by the Trust at Bassi Pathana. The MLA also distributed certificates among 34 youngsters, who completed their training at the BR Institute of Hotel Management, Chandigarh. The Trust selects youths from the 150 villages of Fatehgarh Sahib adopted by it to impart training in various vocational and professional courses. More than 500 students had been imparted training at leading institutes free of cost by the Trust. He said Gafur Mohammed, Bhaga Ram, Raj Kumar Sharma, Krishan Lal Lamba, Sant kumar and Navdeep Sharma had filed their nominations from ward number 5. Mohali coloniser penalised
Mohali, May 20 Apart from that, the forum has also ordered the defaulter to pay Rs one lakh compensation to complainant Balraj Singh Mann for the necessary repairs in his flat, which was purchased from JTPL, Rs 10,000 as litigation charges and refund Rs 26,000, which Mann had deposited towards the club charges. In his complaint, Mann alleged that he had purchased a flat from JLPL on July 30, 2012, after paying a total amount of Rs 27 lakh. “After two-three months, I came to know that the material used in the flat was very cheap. Apart from dampness on the walls of the flat, we found that the sanitary system was not according to the provisions of GMADA. Even electricity supply was improper”, stated Mann in his complaint. He alleged that the electricity board, Kharar, had refused to give electricity connection to him with the remarks that JTPL was not registered and recognised by GMADA and was defaulter of Powercom. In their reply, the JTPL management had stated that the client in question did not purchase the flat from them directly rather he had got it transferred in his name from the open market. After giving hearing to both the parties, the Bench comprising Madhu P Singh, S S Dhaliwal and HK Ghuman issued orders to the JTPL management to compensate Mann with the above-mentioned amount within a period of one month. Chandigarh, May 20 The deceased girl was the daughter of a labourer working at the in Sector 26 “mandi”. She was excited to have dinner at a function organised in the park near the Sector 28 petrol pump. “Rajwatti left the house at around 9.30 pm although she also wanted me to accompany her but I refused to go”, said 12-year-old Prem Chand, the deceased’s brother, who was in tears following the incident. The family lives in a temporary hut erected near the boundary wall of the Dispensary in Sector 26 on the opposite side of Sector 28 where the function was organised. The girl was hit by a recklessly driven Audi car bearing temporary registration number CH-58T-1096.The car was driven by Chirag Sachdev, a resident of Sector 18, who rushed her to the Government Multi Specialty Hospital in Sector 16, where later, she died during treatment. The accused was arrested and later released on bail after the medical examination, meanwhile a case under Section 279 (rash driving), 304(a) (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) was registered against him at the Sector 26 police station. The car of the deceased was impounded by the police. The family members of the deceased got to know about the incident late in the night. Two get 3-year term in robbery case
Chandigarh, May 20 The conviction came three years after the lower court acquitted them in 2010. The case resumed against them after the local administration filed an appeal, following which the trial began in the Additional Judge’s court here. The court today held them guilty and pronounced the conviction along with a fine of Rs 4,000 each. The case was reported on 31 July 2008, after the two youths were found robbing a Sector 42 resident near Sector 17. Komal Soni is a resident of Pinjore while Nitin is a resident of Kalka, Haryana. |

Chandigarh, May 20 The recording of evidence will start from June 13. Mehndi was accused of assaulting the victim, Vinod Kumar, a daily wager from whom he had to recover Rs 2,000. The incident took place on January 13 when the accused attacked him brutally following a verbal altercation. While the victim was immediately taken to a hospital for treatment, the accused was arrested.

Western Air Command win handball championship
Chandigarh, May 20 The Western Air Command team registered a 38-28 win over the rivals. A total of 8 teams from all commands of the Indian Air Force participated in the championship. The tournament was conducted on a league-cum-knock out basis as per the rules laid down by the Handball Federation of India. A total of 18 matches were played in the championship. Air Commodore SK Indoria, Air Officer Commanding, 12 Wing, Air Force, Chandigarh, gave away trophies and prizes to the teams. During the championship, probable were also selected for the forthcoming Inter-Services Handball Championship scheduled to be held at Arty Centre (Army), Hyderabad, in September.
