Laugh out loud
Manpriya Singh

The word jatt is back in the title. And this time, the cast and crew of Jatts in Golmaal once again promise to tickle our funny bone no end…

Till we replicate the magic of the laugh riot Carry on Jatta, we won’t quit trying; for every new venture in Punjabi cinema carries some affiliation with the cult film. So this one promises a joyride as it has the story, screenplay and dialogues by Naresh Kathuria (of Carry On Jatta fame). Jatts in Golmaal brings you Binnu Dhillon, Aarya Babbar, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Jaswinder Bhalla and Sameskha, among others. "The movie has songs by Mika, Sunidhi Chauhan and there’s also an item number Shabo De Chobare. It has a lot of dance numbers, party tracks and wedding songs," says Aarya Babbar, in Chandigarh for the music launch of the film. No matter how compartmentalised the subject may be; when we talk of the music, can the cast and the script be far behind?

Comic angle

A couple of keywords remain constant and appear recurrent till Aarya Babbar assures a different take on the concept of family entertainer and a romantic comedy. "It’s an out-and-out comedy. I play a guy called Sunny; an innocent, simple, boy whose only ambition in life is to go to Canada. He doesn’t know what he’ll do there but he wants to reach Canada." If that sounds familiar, then the further situations don’t and after all, a dozen laughs are worth a few risks! He adds, "With this film, I can say that I got a chance to improve upon my acting." Perhaps, the constant influence and inspiration back home — father Raj Babbar — has a role to play! "He guides me for sure, but he lets me be. He won’t call me up especially to tell me anything or criticise me."

While the dream movie is yet to happen with father Raj Babbar, there’s a tangential take on the perfect role. "If I love the other role which someone else played, I won’t be able to do justice to the characters I portray." Speaking of which, the year ahead looks promising and busy. "I have Naughty Jatts coming up in July and then there’s Heer and Hero, opposite Minnisha Lamba in September." He adds, "In Bollywood, there’s Dussehra with Neil Nitin Mukesh and Tina Desai, which will release later this year and Zindagi 50-50."

Local connect

Sameksha literally started her journey from Chandigarh, charted the political map of India only to come back here! "I was born in Chandigarh and been in Mumbai for the past six to seven years. I have done as many as fifteen South-Indian films before doing a cameo in Lucky Di Unlucky Story." She adds, "This is my first full-fledged Punjabi movie and I play a teacher in the film."

Speaking out

White is the colour

A myopic view of the cast and the crew suggests a reason behind the white uniform everyone turned up in. Someone blames it on the planets and the stars. Laughs Binnu Dhillon, “To be honest, we were feeling really hot.” Chips in Aarya, “It’s just a peaceful start to a new beginning.”

Binnu Dhillon has already fiddled enough with the two most evergreen characters on Indian silver screens — that of a villain and a comedian. "In Jatts in Golmaal, I play a hardcore villain who makes you laugh - that of a drug lord who’s discovered a hole in his heart," he says. While the path-breaking role of Goldy might take a while to happen, the improvisation and evolution continues. "I try to accept challenging roles and improvise with every comic character I play. For instance, I am playing a deaf and dumb person in my next film. Making others laugh by not being able to speak is a challenge. Comedy as it is can be a very tough job." As long as the rewards are commensurate with the endeavours! "Given our stressful lives, people only want to laugh."

Till the commitments to Punjabi cinema happen, Bollywood might have to wait. "There have been a couple of offers, but I wouldn’t risk leaving Punjabi films and start afresh in Mumbai…you can’t be handling a provisions store and a petrol pump together." A comic punch puts the point across!

Item numbers are hugely popular and a successful one can make or break a movie. British actress Hazel Keech does one for an upcoming Punjabi movie Heer & Hero…

Music, like we have often heard and known, knows no barriers; off late we discovered one more form that cannot be chained to culture, language or geographical boundary — the item number!

A pretty looking girl with appealing vital stats from any part of the world can come to Bollywood and walk away with a sexy item number! And mind you, women who have tried this far have been pretty successful. Hazel Keech, the British actress and model, slipped into the hearts of people with her item song Aa Ante Amlapuram in the film Maximum. This model was, however, smart enough to not restrict herself to the tag; she took to acting as well; Hazel played Kareena Kapoor’s friend in the film Bodyguard. Looking beautiful, the gossamer skin beauty hits Chandigarh to talk about her item song for her first Punjabi film Heer & Hero.

Language is not a barrier; at the same time Hazel is open to all languages. “I worked in Tamil as well, language is not a barrier as long as the work is good,” says the actress who stays away from the pancake look as far as possible. An item song in a Punjabi film is definitely interesting; the actress is somehow okay about it, something that she takes in her stride. Hazel will do an item song sung by Master Saleem and Miss Pooja for the film. She wears a lehanga choli for the item track. Well, does she know what is going on we wonder! “Okay, I don’t understand Punjabi but while growing up abroad I knew Bollywood was a big thing and off late I have seen many leading actresses doing Punjabi films.” This one seems to have done her research well!

Item songs, item numbers whatever one might call them, have become an important part of any film; typecast, isn’t that what follows next, we ask Hazel? “I am not a Rakhi Sawant, I am like Madhuri Dixit or Sridevi; I not only do item songs, I act as well like I did in the movie Bodyguard,” Hazel keeps her answers short, sweet and simple pretty much like herself- sweet!

In Chandigarh, stylist and make-up artist Ambika Pillai gives tips on skincare and overall grooming…

When the skin breathes right, the world becomes a beautiful place. In the world of fashion, the name Ambika Pillai resounds; the stylist and make-up artist interacted with college students about skincare and grooming at Park Plaza, Chandigarh, on Tuesday.

Bollywood beat

Ambika has done fashion shows in New York, London, Paris, Singapore, Dubai and Mauritius for well-known designers. “Fashion weeks set trends for the Bollywood industry, which is later followed by the common man but sometimes it’s a tricky business. On the ramp, although experimentation is a must, a more standard look as far as the make-up and hairstyle of models is concerned is the best idea,” she says. Ambika has also done make-up for many movies stars, including Aishwarya Rai in Taal, but she likes to stay more in her parlour and experiment.

Trend-o-meter

“All the bling; the neons and in colours it is red, pink and orange. The major hit is the glow in the dark nail paint.” We can tell that she speaks what she follows with all the pink splashed on her clothes, the neon on her nails and the danglers to go with it! “At parties, pile on the glitter, use eye shadow for smokey eyes, apply a shimmery blush, use generous dabs of gloss,” she adds.

Grooming men

“The long sleek hair trend is by and large over. Yes it still looks good on the artist or maybe the photographer, but men look more real with the clean shave or the messy look depending on their jaw line.” What about men and their fear of parlours? “That was ages ago! Now, men are more conscious about their looks. I am so pleased to see men grooming themselves.”

Next stop

Hailing from Kerala and settling in Delhi, it has been a long expedition, but a successful one for Ambika. With seven salons in Delhi-NCR and a make-up line already out, Ambika is already planning to expand to other cities. “I have had so many people coming from Chandigarh just to buy my products; it’s overwhelming. I have been looking around for a place in Chandigarh because I love the city.” So can we see her in Chandigarh soon? “Well, I am going to hit Kerala now, but the good news is after that Chandigarh is my next destination.” We can’t wait!

Best foot forward

Vikrant Massey, who was earlier seen in various shows, including Balika Vadhu and Baba Aiso Var Dhoondo, is back on TV. He has been signed in the show, Qubool Hai, as replacement for Rishabh Sinha. He talks about his new role and more.

Role call

New face: Ratan Rajput
New face: Ratan Rajput

After her Swayamvar, Ratan Rajput will now be seen in Siddharth Kumar Tewary's Mahabharat. She has replaced Pallavi Subhash and will now essay the role of princess Amba. However, Pallavi was all set to do the role, but because of her date issues, Ratan was signed on.

Why did you choose to do this show?

I have been following the show in bits and parts and I think that it has a wonderful concept, as it is the only show on Indian TV, which is doing well in Middle East and Pakistan too. Most importantly, the storyline of the show is very interesting. As an actor, I think that this role is very challenging as it is something that I have not done before. I am glad to be working with a team.

How do you know Karan?

We know each other professionally though we never worked together. I do not have a personal equation with him, but I am looking forward to working with him.

When will you enter the show?

I cannot reveal that. The modalities are on.

What were your concerns when you replaced Rishabh Sinha?

I do not have any concerns when I replace someone. I will be bringing some of my style on screen as well. In fact, this is the first time that I am replacing an actor.

Will you continue to do the show, The Serial that is telecast on Channel V?

The show has ended, so I will only be focusing on Qubool Hai for now.

Replacement issues

After a lot of speculation about who will replace Ankita Lokhande in the role of Archana in Pavitra Rishta that is telecast on Zee TV, Prachi Shah who was earlier seen in Kyunki Saas Bhi Bahu Thi is rumoured to have been approached for the role too. Earlier, Shilpa Saklani and Gautami Kapoor were offered the roles and though the ladies are keen to do the role, they are stuck on the money part.

With sheer humility & grace

Shaan strikes a chord at Jhalak Dikhhla JaaKnown as one of the most genuine celebrities in the industry, Shaan won many hearts during the promo shoot of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. Shaan, who has taken to dancing for his beloved wife, Radhika, was seen putting his best foot forward during the recent shoot! The actor tried to learn and pick up things from everyone possible on the sets. Also, he was seen asking the background dancers about how he was supposed to perform during the shoot. Mobbed completely by fans, he obliged the group with pictures, autographs and song requests. In addition, Shaan did it all this without batting an eyelid or being hassled with the torturous heat. Now that is what we call a real star!

Putting her dancing shoes on

Popular television actor, Shweta Tiwari, is all set to be a part of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa's new season. The winner of reality show, Bigg Boss Season 4 will now be seen shaking a leg on India's biggest dance reality show. From television to films and theatre, this Super mom has displayed her talent and versatility to become one of the most favourite actors on TV.

This small screen's diva has already judged two reality dance shows, including, Aajaa Mahi Vay and Bhojpuri dance reality show, Dance Sangram. She has also participated in shows like Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao and Bigg Boss and has battled it out until the end.

We are sure that Shweta's undying spirit is enough to make this competition go weak in the knees.

Its time now to see that after her last victory in Bigg Boss, will Shweta's fans help her sail through Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa as well?

Back with a bang

India's Got Talent will soon be back on Colors. While preparations for Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa are in full swing, the judges, including Kirron Kher, Karan Johar and Malaika Arora Khan will be back to judge the show that is scheduled to be telecast in July.

Manish feels for his gadgets

Manish Raisinghnani feels for his gadgets and we learnt that recently when Manish was shooting for a scene in Sasural Simar ka, during which, Avika Gor was to throw a laptop in a fit of rage. However, every time she did act to throw it, Manish would simply look away. Everybody on the sets, including the director kept repeating the take to annoy Manish. "I guess this is the best way all of them could get back at me for all the pranks I played on them. My little 3 year old nephew, who is also a gadget lover, stopped talking to Avika after watching this scene. Meanwhile, the rest of my team is still facing the music of my sweet revenge."

Problematic pairs

Many Bollywood movies work because of their actors and star pairs; the casting coups they manage. For instance, Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra in Teri Meri Kahaani because they are former lovers. So we tell you some interesting and even controversial pairs we will see this year and in 2014…

Kareena Kapoor Khan and Ranveer Singh: We might see them playing siblings in Zoya Akhtar's next film which also stars Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif. Ranbir was supposed to do it but he is too busy so Ranveer and Kareena will play siblings like Zoya and Farhan Akhtar. Ranveer and Kareena were supposed to do Raam Leela together but that did not work as Kareena got married and SLB wanted a single heroine.

Kareena Kapoor Khan and Hrithik RoshanKareena Kapoor Khan and Hrithik Roshan: Kareena Kapoor Khan and Hrithik Roshan have acted in four films together and only Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham made an impact. They were romantically linked but that went nowhere because Hrithik was already with Susanne. Now, Kareena is happily married to Saif Ali Khan and cannot see beyond him so it is safe for them to work together. They are doing Siddharth Malhotra's Shuddhee for sure and even Zoya's next film.

Hrithik Roshan and Kangna Ranaut: Hrithik Roshan and Rakesh Roshan hurt Kangna Ranaut because her role in Kites was severely edited and Barbara Mori hogged all the limelight. So, they made peace with her by giving her the role of an alien villain in Krishh 3. This movie is interesting because it brings Priyanka and Kangna together again after Fashion and even during Fashion they did not really get along.

Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone: Imtiaz Ali is keen on casting the former lovers in his next movie which has Ranbir Kapoor in it for sure. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is gathering buzz and DP and RK are in a comfortable and friendly zone with each other. We know that if this happens, it will not go down too well with Katrina Kaif, Ranbir's apparent girlfriend. She also does not like him Priyanka Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan hanging out with Anushka Sharma with whom he is doing Bombay Velvet.

Priyanka Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan: They are a controversial pair because they have been linked with each other since Don 2 and Gauri does not like PC one bit. However, SRK is keen on casting her in Farah Khan's Happy New Year because he is the producer and has to show people that he still calls the shots. The movie will go on floors only at the end of 2013.

CELEB POINT
Salute to cinema
Divya Dutta

Hey, which film are we planning to watch this week? I want to be like Amitabh Bachchan! Did you see Katrina's outfit? I want to have a similar one! That song from that film lifts my mood!

Don't we hear these conversations everyday? Aren't they an integral part of our lives? From school-going kids to the corporate heads to the housewives and the retired alike, cinema is the connecting factor.

And this week, we mark the completion of 100 years of cinema. Of entertainment, of fantasies, of story telling, of stars, of dreams!

When Dada Saheb Phalke made the first feature film, he created a make-believe world, of his ideas, his story and transferred the people to this new world of films which gradually became part our lives in the most assuming and unassuming ways.

With Chetan Anand's Neechanagar and Ashok Kumar-starrer Kismat, there was no looking back. Classics were made, so were entertainers. The 50s saw the big three—Dilip Kumar, Dev Anand and Raj Kapoor and the 60s saw Rajesh Khanna and Dharamendra and then of course from the 70s it was one man, Amitabh Bachchan. He rules till now. The Khan trio rules too! And the actresses who became dream girls of many.

And the makers, who made cinema memorable were Raj Kapoor, Guru Dutt, K Asif, Bimal da, Satyajit Ray, Mehboob, Manmohan Desai, Hrishikesh Mukerji, Yash Chopra, B R Chopra, Raj Khosla and now the innumerable talented ones who have taken cinema to the international level.

Interestingly, Indian films have been diverse, from hardcore Shyam Benegal films to dhinchak David Dhawan films, to Dabangg, Rowdy Rathore to Gangs of Wasseypur, and every film has an audience. And yes, one thing is common -music and dance galore! An intrinsic part of our system and now our society too, we breathe cinema and we live and sometimes reflect!

Salute to the medium, which I am today a part of. But more than that, salute to the Indian cinema from a diehard movie buff, who drinks, breathes and lives films! Great to be your student, follower, admirer and an integral part! Happy hundred years to Indian cinema!

Bright hues: Gulwant Singh showcases his portraits.

Simplicity is perhaps the most overrated expression of humility. However, when it comes to defining the complex disposition of an artist, whose idea of beauty bestows in itself the essence of realism, one cannot help but to give due credit to his simplistic idea of creativity. Gulwant Singh, who comes across as a man of plain tastes, makes no pretence in filling the colours of his original character when he paints on canvas. "I am not the kinds who like to mix and match a lot of colours. I like it simple and perhaps that shows in most of my paintings," he begins.

After serving as an art teacher in various schools in Faridkot, Gulwant, who is also the president of Baba Farid Art Society, decided to exhibit his collection for the first time in Chandigarh at Punjab Kala Bhawan. "Since I work on religious themes, I exhibit my work every year at Baba Farid Mela that takes place in Faridkot. I have made several portraits of Guru Gobind Singh and Guru Nanak Dev. I have also painted Buddha," says Gulwant.

Besides painting portraits, which mainly translate into the aesthetic depiction of his understanding of his subjects, Gulwant also paints Baba Farid's verses that are mentioned in the Guru Granth Sahib, "I interpret the verses mentioned in the Guru Granth Sahib through my knowledge and understanding of what they mean and convey. For instance, I have painted the map of the higher world that about which Guru Arjun Dev wrote in the holy book. Not only do I use oil on canvas, but I also use poster colours and pastel colours on superior paper," he says.

Meanwhile, Gulwant has also painted a portrait of Mona Lisa and Princess Diana. "I went to England in 1986 and there I painted a portrait of Behnazir Bhutto for which I was awarded Rs 70,000. Also, I have painted the Mona Lisa where I have tried to capture her beauty. I am also very inclined towards meditative art," he shares.

From May 10-12 at Punjab Kala Bhawan-16.

In Patiala, veteran actress Neena Tiwana created a spell on stage with her role in the play Ammi

Play time: A scene from Chauksi Maharaj (top); Neena Tiwana (right) in Ammi.

When veteran actress Neena Tiwana took to the stage after a long time at Harpal Tiwana Centre for Performing Arts in Patiala to portray a helpless mother who is abandoned by his son in an old age home, it was a mesmerising treat for theatre-lovers. Her performance in the play tiled Ammi once again reminded the audience as to why the thespian was an integral part of Punjabi movies till some years back. The play was staged by the Harpal Tiwana Foundation, along with another play titled Chauksi Maharaj recently.

While the former was dedicated to motherhood and the way relationships have transformed in today's modern world, the latter was a refreshingly hilarious comedy that talked about a theatre artist who after struggling for years starts using his acting skills to befool people and earn his livelihood. The evening was held as a tribute to the late Harpal Tiwana on his 11th death anniversary.

The concept for the Punjabi play Ammi was developed by Neena Tiwana and she shared the stage with well-known actress Nirmal Rishi popularly known as Bibo Bhua of Laung Da Lashkara fame. Ammi is the story of a selfless mother who makes all kinds of sacrifices for her son (Sukhwinder Sohi) to give him the best of facilities and a respectable life, but when it is the son's turn to return the favour he bows down in front of his wife (Amrit) who refuses to take care of his mother. Due to this, he leaves her in an old age home Mukti Ashram without her knowledge. When the mother gets to know about the real situation, she is unable to bear the pain and dies in the ashram. Nirmal plays the role of the manager of the old age home. The theme soundtrack of the play was provided by Satinder Sartaj. Says Neena Tiwana, "Theatre is very close to my heart and it is a dream come true to relive the wonderful moments on stage."

Chauksi Maharaj (played by Manpal Tiwana) is a comedy in Hindi written by Dr Harish K Malhotra. It revolves around a self-acclaimed Maharaj who befools various characters for monetary gains but when he gets exposed in the end, he reveals that he was a struggling theatre artist who after trying his luck everywhere decided to earn his livelihood in this manner. Apart from Tiwana, the other three artists in the play included Rashim Singla (Suparna), Harjeet Kaur (Janki Devi) and Rashpaul Bharti (Ram Lal Kapoor).

Future Shock
Keep kids safe online!
Nistha Anand Shukla

Dear parents, It's with a lot of love for your kids and utmost respect for your opinion that I ask you to allow your children to explore a new world that's always attracting them online. Parents often ask me if they should let their kids go online and surf by themselves. By all means, yes! Sure, there are some risks that we need to avert. But the wealth of knowledge and exposure internet gives your child can never be recreated in a similar way.

Remember how MTV was dreaded by your parents but they let you try it anyway? Apply the same rule here. Be cautious but be considerate. In fact, we are luckier to have ample help in different programmes and tools that help you take charge of what your child is watching. We do want to keep them away from the murky side of things.

There are many things we can do to ensure that we have a fair amount of parental control over what our children are doing. To start with, you can ask your internet provider for parental controls that are available for free. This would depend on your IP address. There are also many web-based tools as well as offline softwares that help you to keep a check on what your kids are doing.

If you want to protect your child on social networking sites, try the Avira Social Network Protection. It gives the child access to social networks so they can stay in touch with friends and generate the right social interactions. However, it also ensures that they are not susceptible to cyber bullying or online predators. This online protection tool works by allowing you to monitor your child's social networking activity in real time.

A comprehensive solution is the Norton Family pack. This one allows you to control the amount of time your child spends online. You are also able to block access to a particular kind of content. So you can block access to shopping, porn or gory sites.

If you want your child to take a lesson online, but you're sure they would switch to social networks as soon as you are out of sight, try Cold Turkey. This one allows you to block a certain website for a given period of time. Ain't that super easy?

These solutions are only pointers. Look up any trouble you're facing with parental control and you're sure to find a reputable answer online.

Master Chef
Brownie point
Kandla Nijhowne

Sometimes you need 'something sinful and gooey' as a treat and you need it just now! Please tell me you also have such cravings, or I shall think I'm the isolated, weird museum-specimen! The cup-culture for zapping a quick delight in the microwave has become exceedingly popular in the West. Students, working youngsters or anybody in a hurry turns to 'cooking a quickie' with small amounts of ingredients and minimal time. It's the next best thing after the two-minute-noodles! An ooey-gooey brownie, steaming hot and puffy could lift your spirits without too many calories. Remember not to overfill the cup with the batter. Microwaves cause a huge swell in even small portions. If you are doing more cup helpings for sudden visitors, adjust the time accordingly. Do check a little before the time is up! Even an extra 10 seconds in excess can result in a stony-brownie!

Brownie in a mug

2 tbsp melted butter

2 tbsp water

¼ tsp vanilla essence

A pinch of salt

4 tbsp grain-sugar

2 tbsp cocoa powder

4 tbsp maida

Method

In a large coffee mug, mix water, butter, vanilla and dash of salt. Stir well. Add cocoa powder and sugar, mix briefly, then add maida and whisk with a fork for even distribution. Microwave for 60 to 70 seconds. Remove and press the top surface gently. The centre should be slightly wobbly. Careful not to overcook. Enjoy with a mound of whipped cream, topped with a dusting of cocoa powder. The brownie could be deceptively hot...Be careful!

Shahid injured?

The fire accident on the sets of Prabhu Deva's Rambo Rajkumar last week in Mumbai was not as minor as it was made out to be.

Apparently Shahid has got burn injuries on his back and hand and he will need some time to recover fully.

"We were shooting a fire sequence when the chemical used to create the fire went awry. It singed Shahid's shoulder and hand. It could have been much worse. Thankfully nothing serious happened," says a source.

The stunts in Rambo Rajkumar are getting more and more dare-devilish as Prabhudheva wants them to be one-up on what Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar did in Wanted and Rowdy Rathore. The source adds, "When Shahid decided to do his first action film, he had to make sure the stunts were of the never-before variety. That's why he waited so long to do an action film and even opted out of his friend Siddharth Anand's Bang Bang."

Not too many know this. But Bang Bang was a project that was planned with Shahid. The source says, "But then somewhere down the line Shahid preferred Prabhu's project as his first attempt at the action genre. Bang Bang is a remake of a Tom Cruise-starrer Knight & Day and Shahid didn't want his stunts to be compared with Cruise. Rambo Rajkumar is an original." When contacted Prabhu Deva refrained from commenting on the injury but did mention that he's taking a break with his two sons.

"We're going to Australia for a holiday. During my vacation with my kids I'll also unveil the first look of Girish Taurani's debut film Ramaiya Vastavaiya at the Melbourne Film Festival," Prabhu informed.

Roy on a roll

Aditya Roy Kapur has recently tasted success with Aashique 2 and is looking forward to Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. The 27-year-old is enthusiastic about everything and talks about doing good films, family, success and more.

Support system

Success can come and go but I need to build a resume of good films and good performances because I can always bank on that. I come from a family very connected to films so I get a point of view from a director, actor, producer, and an actress. That would be my brother Kunal, then Siddharth and my sister-in-law Vidya.

All in the family

I have nothing against working in my brother Siddharth's films but I feel it is unethical to ask him for roles in movies made by UTV. I want to get it on my own merit. I would love to get a script in which the director really wants me to do his movie. After the screening of Aashique 2, Vidya was really sweet and asked me for an autograph. She is a fantastic sister-in-law and cool to be around. Kunal also got good reviews for his movie recently and somebody or the other has a film releasing every month in the family. I look forward to a day and film which will have the entire family in it. That should be fun!

No gadgets!

I am kind of challenged when it comes to technology and digital platforms. When I was in college, I did not have the urge to learn how social media functions but now it is important to promote our films virtually and stay in touch with our fans. I also feel one should not get interactive only when their film is up for release. I am not a talkative person, so I cannot do much online.

Spicy treat

McDonald's was perhaps the first global QSR (Quick Service Restaurant) brand in the country to introduce products that had local names and flavours. McAloo Tikki was the first such product to be introduced in India.

And now, the brand has introduced a new grilled product called masala grill. The new product has both vegetarian and non-vegetarian variants that give a hint of kebabs from the northwest frontier.

In the new masaledar range...the chicken masala grill is a full-bodied and chicken mince patty seasoned with Indian herbs and spices; and veg masala grill is an option for the vegetarian customers that is a perfect blend of potatoes and soya patty flavoured with aromatic spices. The products are wrapped in a specially developed roasted chilli sauce.

The new grill burgers are available across India and are priced at Rs 55 for chicken masala grill and Rs 45 for veg masala grill. The range is available ala carte and in meal combos.
