Undertrial who fled from hospital caught: The Mansa police has
arrested an undertrial who had fled from police custody on May 5.
Yadwinder Singh alias Kala is a resident of Mansa. He had been lodged
in the jail under the NDPS Act. He had escaped on the pretext of going
to the toilet from the Civil Hospital. SSP Narinder Bhargav said the
accused was nabbed at a naka near Dashmesh School.

24-yr-old commits suicide in shop: A 24-year-old man employed at a chemist shop at Nihalsinghwala allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan. The dead body was recovered by the local police on Monday. The deceased, Balaur Singh alias Soni, opened the shop on Sunday afternoon and allegedly hanged himself to death in a restroom located inside the shop.

Three booked on rape charge: The local police has booked three
persons for allegedly raping a 23-year-old woman here on Monday. While
one of the accused, Ravi Kumar, has been arrested, his accomplice Ajay
Kumar is absconding. The third accused was yet to be identified, said
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) SS Dhaliwal. The victim, a
resident of Tanda, alleged she was waiting for a bus when one of the
accused offered her a lift on a motorcycle. The accused instead took
her to the bus stand where he along wth his accomplices raped
her.

Man booked for duping NRI: The police has booked a currency exchange unit owner, Jagdish
Chander, for allegedly duping an Australia-based NRI, Harpal Singh, of Rs 3.5
lakh. Harpal alleged that the accused took his Indian currency, which he wanted to convert into British pounds. A case has been registered.
