Small wonder
Age has nothing to do with talent; sometimes it’s a god-gift that has been nurtured with hardwork. Such is the story of this little flourishing bud — she is a professional emcee, internationally acclaimed dancer, a French graduate and a remarkable scholar. And all this at just fourteen years of age!
Sanjna Arora, resident of Sector 38, Chandigarh, is the little star in question. A student of Manav Mangal High School, she idolizes her principal Sanjay Sirdana. Working as an anchor for the last two years, she describes the experience as incredible. “I was selected for a competition Horlicks Wiz Team 2010 to represent Punjab at the South-Asian level. It was great project to serve the less-fortunate people. There, I anchored a dance-cum-singing competition ‘Pump up the Floor’. This was the beginning of my journey,” says Sanjna. “Two years later, I was chosen as the most talented child in Horlicks Wiz Team 2012 South Asian Finals. I have been connected with the NGO ever since,” she adds. Sanjna has had the opportunity to work as an RJ on 94.3 My FM twice. She has recently anchored at the Rose Festival 2013. Apart from anchoring, she loves cricket and has done commentary for 20-20 selection matches of Kings XI Punjab team in 2012 and 2013. Dance is another passion with her, “Dance is all about expressing your emotions. It has always been my strength. Although I have never learnt it professionally, I did get immense support from my aerobics trainer Vishal.” Sanjna has won numerous trophies in debates, declamation and extempore. “I am learning French at Alliance Francaise, Chandigarh, for the last two years,” she says. “I have been lucky to be part of a round table conference with the renowned French poet Teher Ben Jelloun and also anchored for a French band at Sector 17 plaza,” she adds. She doesn’t forget to acknowledge those who have encouraged her throughout her journey, “I have received tremendous support from my teachers Monica Sharma, Bhupinder Kaur, Deepinder Kaur and Sadhna Karr. My parents have always been my greatest strength.” “My daughter is my inspiration. She has set examples for the world that a girl is equally competent. She makes me proud,” says Neha Arora, Sanjna’s mother. Being involved in so many extra-curricular activities has not affected her on the academic front. She has cleared first level of Informatics Olympiad in 2012. “I am enjoying this expedition,” she says.

Go-getter
She is a regular girl, but she is not ordinary and that's perhaps because Anahita Sachdev, who is only 17, believes in etching a niche for herself at everything that she attempts at doing. Currently studying in Class 12 in Vivek High School, Anahita says she loves dancing and that she has been learning kathak for seven years now. Besides, she has also been learning classical vocal music since she was eleven. Motivational factor
Anahita maintains that although she has never really had a role model, she has always tried to learn something from everyone she came across. However, she believes that the motivational factor that propelled her endeavours to the shores of success was rooted in the faith that her parents, family and teachers bestowed upon her. Also, she stresses the significance of self-belief, which according to her is the realisation that we are just as capable as anyone else and achievement is just a matter of putting in the right amount of genuine effort. "Personally, I keep myself going by thinking of the possible positive outcomes of my achievements, so I try to put my best foot forward," she says. Feathers in the cap
Anahita considers that she was fortunate enough to have participated in various dance and music competitions under the aegis of her teachers. She has won as many as 40 trophies in several dance competitions held across the country and she cherishes the one that was awarded to her by Saroj Khan. In the past six months, Anahita has represented Vivek High in various international public-speaking competitions, including the International Independent Schools Public Speaking Championship, Canada and The King's Academy Public Debating Speaking Championship, in which she stood first in Persuasive Speaking. Recently, she participated in the World Independent Debating and Public Speaking Championship (WIDPSC) held at Durban, South Africa, where she stood second in the category of those nations where English was a second language. Academically, she scored a 10 point average in her grade ten examinations. Flipside of being an achiever
Anahita feels that sometimes, it can get difficult to manage various things at one time and maintain a balance. She believes that it is important to stay grounded. "Although, I have never faced any animosity from peers or pressure from my parents, but this year I must admit that my academics have suffered because of my extra-curricular activities. So, I have promised myself that I'll hit the books. As soon as my student exchange is over," she says. Words of wisdom
Grab every opportunity that comes your way. "If I like singing, I shouldn't shy away from joining the school choir or singing in class. If I want to write, I must make the effort to submit what I have written for appraisal," she says while adding, "now this does sound clichéd but is incredibly true - if we learn from our mistakes, we are bound to do better the next time around."

CELEB POINT
When you talk of the top producers of Bollywood, Karan Johar's name tops the list and I have had the honour of working with the best of them, right from Yash Chopra to Rakesh Mehra to Rituparno Ghosh to Shyam Benegal!
However, one name that I always wanted to add to that list was Karan Johar! Of course, he is a maverick of a film-maker, a story-teller with a great sense of music and the icing on the cake is his marketing strategies. His films remain the most awaited always! I had planned a short trip to the Himalayas as a much-needed break! Tickets booked; all shopping done and I got a call from Karan's Dharma Productions. I was like a little gal as my heart skipped a beat! They told me about this film they were starting called Gippy and they wanted me to play the lead! I pinched myself; dreams do come true but the dates they asked me to shoot clashed with my holiday. As always! But this was my first with Karan and I had to make it happen. The role was awesome though something I've never done before—play a single mom! The film was a picnic; I was the only established actor with kids even as their energy and exuberance rubbed on to me! The film has the theme that never aim or strive to be someone else or like somebody else; be comfortable in your own skin, happy with what you are. I loved the theme and unlearnt a lot of things that one does in the course of one's life journey! By the end of it, I started taking myself and my problems less seriously and these beautifully got resolved. Now that the film releases this May and the credits will say starring Divya Dutta in a Karan Johar film, I will smile, fold my hands with gratitude and see peoples' perceptions change towards me. Yes, they do alter, not only with the kind of work you do but also who you do it with! I am experiencing it…the dust sparkles of stardom coming from belonging to a certain name! My first time and I am loving it; ye bhi zaroori
hai! (Dutta is a Bollywood actor)

Doc Talk
Nearly three out of every five men will begin balding by the time they are 50. Most don't part with their hair willingly-males spend a lot per year trying to hang onto those locks. And while there's no cure for a shiny scalp, there are a lot of supposed causes that men worry about more than they need to!
Scientific research suggests that the most common type of hair loss, male pattern baldness, is triggered by faulty hair-making progenitor cells in the scalp. Researchers long believed that men whose hair progressively thins-starting with a receding hairline and then stretching to the crown-lacked a sufficient number of these cells. Rather, it appears that the cells are merely unable to complete their normal development and mature to a fully-functioning state. Other potential contributors to hair loss include illness, age, genetics and even lifestyle habits. Breaking myths
Myth: If you're balding, you're old. On the contrary, hair loss can strike in the teens and is common among 20 and 30-year-olds. The earlier it begins, the more severe it is likely to become. Myth: Wearing a head gear strains hair follicles, causing hair to fall out. They're not causing any harm. Dirty headgear can, however, lead to a scalp infection, which in turn accelerates hair loss, so make sure yours is clean. Myth: If you want to hang on to your hair, stay away from gel and hairspray. No need to forgo the products-they don't cause balding and neither does shampoo, washing your hair frequently or dandruff. Myth: Exposure to sun encourages balding. Not true. UV rays do not cause hair loss. Myth: Loading up on carbohydrates can lead to hair loss. Carbohydrates provide nutrients that are helpful for maintaining a full head of hair. Research suggests that iron deficiency may be closely linked to hair loss. Myth: The most sexually active men are the first to go bald. This is one of the most popular myths, there's no truth to it. Myth: Massaging your scalp stimulates hair growth False. Scalp massage can increase blood circulation, decrease stress and help distribute the scalps natural oil on to the hair. Myth: Frequent haircuts cause hair to grow back faster and thicker False. Your hair will grow about a half-an-inch every month - regardless of how often your haircutter snips it. Myth: Dieting can lead to hair loss. False. Dieting is not problematic if done under guidance of dietician. Myth: If you pluck one gray hair, three will sprout in its place. This is a false
assumption. (Dr Sharma is a Chandigarh-based dermatologist)

Master Chef
Why should vegetarians not have fun? There are meatless versions in most cuisines where an array is on offer! In India we equate vegetarian restaurant food with paneer, mushroom and baby corn; no further! Mexican dishes when filled with the robust rajmah and cheese and enrobed in sour cream and tomato paste will delight even diehard meat-lovers! Enchiladas are their take on our kaathi-kebabs with the advantage of them being cheesy and moist as well! Cumin (jeera) is the common denominator adding a punch to this delightful concoction! Cheesy Bean and Tofu Enchiladas
Method
Note: Tofu, paneer, red bell peppers or baby corn can also be rolled into the enchiladas. For a less tangy version substitute some of the tomato puree with white sauce.

No stunts for Katrina
We have seen Katrina Kaif doing light action in Ek Tha Tiger but the actress has reportedly refused to do heavy power stunts for her upcoming movies, Dhoom 3 and Bang Bang.
Katrina knows that a slight injury on the set will push back the shooting schedule and hence, she refused to do any heavy action.
The makers of both the movies will use body double of the actress. Kat was earlier looking forward for some dare-devil stunts and she has been practicing for the same but later she decided not to. According to a source, "Some of them are really edgy and require her to move with a certain amount of feline grace. While she has almost mastered the moves, and has been shooting for the same right now, she wants to avoid anything that is too complicated or potentially hazardous." Katrina has already shot a major part of Dhoom 3 and she will start shooting for Bang Bang with Hrithik Roshan next month. "Bang Bang opposite Hrithik Roshan will take off next month and that leaves very little for Katrina to prepare and recover," the source said. She had done some bold bike shots for Zindagi Na Milegi

Closet secrets
Malaika Arora Khan is teaming up with an online portal and starting her own fashion line online called The Closet Label. She is shooting for the campaign. She talks about her dream venture…RR Finding the label
I have groomed myself through my modelling, item songs, movies, hosting shows, judging shows, and stuff like that. After my son was born, people asked me to start a maternity line but I did not know how to go about it. So, when The Label Corp came to me with a solid e-commerce plan, I jumped right in. We have clothes and accessories for everyone. The collection
We have clothes and accessories for people of all shapes and sizes. This line is not exclusively for models. I wanted to move away from my glamourous and sexy image by doing this line. We have swimsuits, tunics, pants, shorts and blouses and the cuts are such that they disguise fat. Most of the line has been tailored in such a way to fit in versatility. Like one black tunic you can wear during the day and at night, same for a black maxi dress. There are tips on the use of accessories too which define and change your look. There are all sorts of colours and fabrics too. Future plans
I am so excited about this line and where it will take me. It has taken us one year to bring it to reality when it launches in mid May. My next dream is to start my own restaurant and I know everything will fall into place. Gosh, how many things am I going to do!

Five things about Parineeti
Parineeta Chopra has become a sought-after actress with plum projects in her kitty. While we know she has struggled with weight issues, here are some lesser-known facts and trivia about her. London dreams
I absolutely love London because all my friends are there. I studied there and London has everything. There's a beach one hour away, there's the best shopping centres, the best food and as I'm a huge foodie, I love it. And the weather is always amazing. I love the English accent too and the guys are so cute! First job
My first paycheck ever was in the university when I used to do part-time jobs. I worked for football club Manchester United, because I was studying in Manchester. I was one of the team leaders for the catering during the matches. Gadget girl
My biggest indulgence is electronics. I just love them. I love watching TV, listening to music and I'm always on my iPad. I keep changing my phones all the time. It's not really about the technical part but I just love the feeling of a new electronic item in the house. I spent my first big movie paycheck on an Apple laptop. Foot fall
Now, I have become a high-street person. I like to spend on good quality clothes. Even if I buy a ganji, it has to be of good quality. I won't really spend Rs 80,000 on one pair of shoes, but I'll probably buy 20 pairs which each cost only 200 bucks. All my money goes on that. Shoes, chappals, I just love footwear! Sing song
Singing is my secret talent. I don't know if people know that I can sing. I am actually a trained classical singer and I would like to take it up sometime in the future. I think singing and acting run in the family. Another thing about me is that I still get star-struck despite the fact that I also act now. I am a huge fan of Saif Ali Khan. He is my favourite actor!

History beckons
Buzz is that Iqbal Khan is being considered for the role of the Rajput King Maharana Pratap in Sony's historical show. Apparently, he was also offered the role of Maharana Pratap's father King Uday Singh but he didn't want to play an older role so Shakti Anand was signed for it.

Rohit’s vacation blues
Rohit Khurana, who is essaying the role of Ehsaas in serial Dil Ki Nazar Se Khoobsurat, is off to Goa for a family vacation. Since the shoot of the show is on a very tight schedule, the production is in a tizzy to do his scenes as soon as possible. According to a source in absence of an episode bank, the serial is shot and immediately telecast the next day. "We shall manage very well. We have done the scenes with him and shall do the rest when he returns," says Sumeet

No leap please!
The cast of Zee TV's Hitler Didi Rati Pandey, Smita Singh, Sandeep Baswana, among others, threatened to quit the show if they took a leap as no one wanted to play older characters. So apparently the makers decided to drop the idea of a leap.
Quit call: Rati Pandey
The dark zone
Quite often, actors are taken too seriously for the role that they play. Archana Taide, who plays the character of a Nikkhat Khan in her show Qubool Hai, had to face a very funny yet a shocking incident recently because of the role of a dark girl that she essays in her current show. Archana and Ashish Sharma were planning to get married and Ashish informed his parents about Archana, following which, grapevine spread amongst the relatives about the looks of
Archana. Beauty secret: Archana Taide & Ashish Sharma
Gautami for Pavitra Rishta?
Ankita Lokhande's character Archana in Pavitra Rishta is currently in coma and she claims she is on a break, but apparently she won't be returning to the show as she doesn't want to play a grandmother in it. So Balaji had approached Shilpa Saklani to replace Ankita, but they couldn't agree on the financial front. Apparently, now they have spoken to Gautami Kapoor and she looks keen.

achievement.
Sunshine at last!
Sunny Leone has worked with two very different female producers in Bollywood. Pooja
Bhatt, who launched her is Jism 2, was strict and temperamental with her while Ekta
Kapoor, her producer for Ragini MMS 2 and Shootout at Wadala, is spoiling her silly. Obviously, she wants to do more films with Ekta and
Balaji.
Fun filled: Sunny Leone Priceless experience
Sushant Singh Rajput has an important role in Rajkumar Hirani's PeeKay. The young actor was so thrilled to be directed by Hirani that he is not charging a penny for the movie because the entire experience is priceless to him. He feels it is an honour to work under Hirani and has completely cherished the experience. That is
commendable!
