There is a street in the town named Christian mohalla where more than 14 people having squint in their eyes reside, eight of them are children. Squint is a condition in which both eyes do not look in the same direction. Most squint cases occur in children, but in Kahnuwan, adults too are affected. This fact is perplexing doctors of the Gurdaspur Civil Hospital. Squint is not a contagious disease.

The Deputy Commissioner, Dr Abhinav Trikha, has asked the Civil Surgeon, Dr Vinod Beri to inquire into the sequence of events leading to so many people, living in the same mohalla, being afflicted by the disease. A team of doctors led by Dr Vimmi Mahajan, an eye specialist and Medical Officer of the Kahnuwan Community Health Centre (CHC) and the SMO Dr Krishan Lal visited the area but their visit yielded no results.
