3 booked: The police has booked three persons, including two women, for cheating a Ludhiana resident on the pretext of sending him abroad. Kamaljit Singh complained to the police that Vikram Kumar, Manpreet Kaur and Gurmeet Kaurpersons running an establishment in Phase VII had taken Rs 92,000 from him on the pretext that arrangements would be made for his immigration to Canada. He was neither sent nor his money was returned.

Chess tourney from April 19: The Chandigarh Chess Association will organise the Chandigarh Open Prize Money Chess Tournament 2013 at St Xavier’s Senior Secondary School, Sector 44, from April 19 to 21. The interested participants can enrol their names with the organisers before April 18.
