2-day remand for two

Mohali, March 23
The two accused arrested in the Punjab School Education Board’s fake certificates racket were remanded in two-day police custody today.

The two, Kulwant Singh Multani and Gaurav Narula, were produced in court this evening. The Mohali police demanded their remand on the plea that they wanted to interrogate them to get details of their accomplices and clients. “We need to find their connections within the board as well,” said Atul Soni, station house officer of the area.

The accused were involved in making fake certificates of the Punjab School Education Board, for which they charged Rs 10,000 to 12,000. For making fake driving licenses and voter identity card, they charged Rs 2000.

Multani is a resident of Kajheri in Chandigarh while Gaurav Narula resided at Mundi Kharar. Multani, a resident of Kajheri in Chandigarh, was reportedly removed from service of National Security Guard (NSG). Narula had a printing press in Phase VII. The police trapped the accused by sending a decoy customer to them.

Advocate’s Murder
Police custody of main accused extended

Mohali, March 23
The police remand of Deepak Kaushal, alias Golu, one of the main accused in local advocate Amanpreet Singh's murder case, has been extended for two more days here today.

Golu was produced in the court this afternoon by the police, which demanded the extension of his remand on the basis that further interrogation was required to extract information about the other absconding accused and weapons, used in the crime.

This is the third time when Golu's police remand has been extended. Notably, Golu, a second year student of Law Department at Panjab University was arrested during the intervening night of March 13 and 14 from the hostel no 2 of the university.

Following the interrogation of Golu, the police has arrested three persons namely Suraj Kumar, his son Jagwinder Kumar and Ram Kumar, for providing him shelter and assistance. As many as five accused, Sunil Bhanot, alias Chhoti, Rajat, Vishal, Dharminder, and Kevin Sushant are still at large, in this case.
