Jewellery theft complaint: A Mall Road-based jeweller Harinder Singh Madan has lodged a complaint at the Lawrence road police post that some unidentified persons stole a ring from his showroom. The police said the unidentified persons had stolen a ring weighing 5.03 gm, worth Rs 81,000, and had put a duplicate ring in its place. A case has been registered.

Man who poisoned two kids arrested: The police has arrested an Uttar Pradesh resident, Gauri Shankar, who allegedly killed his two stepchildren — Bittu (4) and Muskan (2) — by giving them poison in a syrup on Monday. The accused was arrested from Mandi Gobindgarh while he was planning to escape in a bus.

Junior engineers hold protest: Members of the Council of Junior Engineers of the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited on Tuesday staged protest rallies in front of circle headquarters and various power projects. They were protesting against the delay in the settlement of their pending demands pertaining to pay structure and filling of vacant posts. "We have decided to boycott stores, metering labs, revenue collection and theft-checking raids from March 19-27," said Davinder Singh, general secretary of the council.
