Three held for murder
Ludhiana, March 6
The city police today arrested three persons, a day after a dead body of 26-year-old Anil Kumar was found on the bank's of Sutlej River. While two accused Danni and Rahul have been identified. The identity of the third accused is not known yet. Ramesh Kumar, victim's father said it was Denni and Rahul who had killed his son.

202 cartons of hosiery goods seized from railway station
Ludhiana, March 6
Mobile wing of the excise and taxation department today seized nearly 202 cartons of goods from the railway station. The department got a tip off after which it reached railway station at around 3 am and continued raid till 10.30 am.

Second accused arrested in rickshaw-puller murder case

The city police today arrested the second accused in connection of a murder case of rickshaw puller, who was brutally killed on August 27.

Two get 7-year jail in rape case
Ludhiana, March 6
The Additional Sessions Judge Surinderpal Kaur has convicted a youth Harpreet Singh, alias Happy, of Guru Ram Dass Nagar, Makkar Colony, Dhandari Kalan, Ludhiana. He was sentenced rigorous imprisonment for seven years.

1,052 players turn up for sports trial
Ludhiana, March 6
Over 1,052 aspirants including 779 boys and 273 girls turned up to attend trials conducted by the Punjab Sports Department at Guru Nanak Stadium here today.
