Villager arrested on trespassing charge: The police has arrested a Kandhala Jattan resident on the charge of trespassing.Harminder Singh allegedly entered the house of a woman of the same village by scaling the building’s boundary wall and allegedly molested her.

Dowry case against Army jawan, kin: The Sirhind police has booked an Army jawan and his parents for allegedly harassing a woman by demanding dowry. In her complaint to the police, Baljit Kaur alleged her husband Jagdeep Singh of Mata Gujri Colony, and his parents had thrown her out of the house for not bringing Rs 1 lakh and a computer from her parents.

Smuggling: 10-year jail term for couple: The court of District and Sessions Judge on Tuesday sentenced a couple, Binder Singh (38) and Kulwinder Kaur (35), to 10-year imprisonment in a drug smuggling case. A fine of Rs 1 lakh each was also slapped on the duo, arrested on April 9 last year near Devi Wala village of Kotkapura with 151 kg of poppy husk.

Student killed in road mishap: A Class VII student was killed in an accident in Malerkotla on Tuesday. The victim, Jagseer Singh of Naudharani Road area in Malerkotla, was a student of Government High School, Delhi Gate, Malerkotla. The police said the victim was hit by a truck from the rear when he was returning home from the school on a bicycle.
