Joginderpal Jain assumes charge
: Joginderpal Jain, former Congress MLA from Moga, assumed the charge of Chairman, Punjab State Warehousing Corporation, in Chandigarh on Tuesday. An official statement said Jain was accompanied by Baghapurana MLA Maheshinder Singh, Moga unit SAD president Tirath Singh Malah, Moga market committee former chairman Gurdip Singh, SAD senior vice-president Gurnaib Singh Sandhu and senior Akali leader Davinder Singh Rania.

Overseas Congress hits out at govt: The Indian Overseas Congress (IOC), United States, has claimed that the Punjab Government was "not serious" about the problems faced by the NRIs, "something that was evident from the manner in which the property of an NRI was grabbed in Ludhiana by an Akali leader to construct a bar (The Hubb)". The IOC alleged that merely holding NRI conferences, as was planned by the SAD-BJP government from January 4-6, would not serve any purpose. IOC's US president Ajaib Singh Lakhan claimed that NRI Hardial Hundal did not get justice from the Ludhiana administration despite the fact that his sister took up the matter on his behalf.
