3 new bus terminals to come up in state: The Punjab Government will construct three new bus terminals at Sangrur, Kapurthala and Faridkot. A Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) spokesman said these bus terminals-cum-commercial complexes would be built under public-private-partnership mode. The PRTC and the Punjab Infrastructure Development Board had invited tenders for the purpose.

Man booked for molesting Dalit girl: Santam Singh, a resident of Jhar Sahib Havelian village, 45 km from here has been booked under Sections 363, 366, 376 of the IPC for sexually abusing a 22-year-old Dalit girl who worked at a brick kiln. The girl said that the accused lured her into the relationship by offering to marry her. But when she gave birth to their child, the accused abandoned her. In her statement to the police, she alleged the accused met her in 2010 at the brick kiln in Gazzal village, 40 km from here.

One killed in road mishap: A man Harjit Singh (25), resident of Jamarai village, was killed and Gurmit Singh (28) was seriously injured when the motorcycle they were riding on was hit by a tractor-trailer near the railway crossing at Khan Chhapri village, 25 km from here. Both the youths were returning from Fatehbad village. Harjit died on the spot and Gurmit has been admitted to a hospital where his condition was stated to be stable.

Three held with pistol: The Patti police recovered a countrymade 32 bore pistol, two cartridges and a sharp edged weapon from three youths. A case under Sections 25, 54 59 of the Arms Act has been registered against the accused. Assistant Sub Inspector Gurbax Singh, who is the investigating officer, said the accused have been identified as Jagroop Singh, Manjit Singh, local residents, and Harpreet Singh of Dhotian village. The accused were sent in a two-day police remand by the duty magistrate today, said Singh.
