Cyclist injured: A cyclist was injured in an accident near Delhi Public School here today. A speeding motorcycle rammed into the cycle injuring cyclist Ramesh, a resident of village Naruana. The volunteers of Naujawan Welfare Society rushed the injured to the Civil Hospital.

Deptts told to finalise service rules: The Punjab Government on Wednesday directed all the departments to finalise their service rules to check unwanted litigation. An official spokesman said it had been noticed that lack of service rules resulted in undue litigation thus creating various administrative and legal hurdles.

Ferozepur
4 women booked for robbing man: Four women were booked by the city police for allegedly robbing a person of a gold chain and Rs 4,000. Gurdeep Singh, SHO, Ferozepur Sadar, said auto-rickshaw driver Raj Singh of Shehzadi village had lodged a complaint that on Monday afternoon when he went to drop four women at Basti Shekhanwali, they called him inside the house for the payment. The women, Bholi, Sheru, Runa and Pooja along with their accomplice Shinda, allegedly thrashed him and took away his gold chain and cash. A case has been registered.

Mukerian sugar mill faces closure: Taking serious note of discharge of effluents into a drain by Mukerain-based sugar mill Indian Sucrose Ltd, the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) authorities have initiated proceedings for closure of the mill besides forfeiting its bank guaranty worth Rs 7.50 lakh. SP Garg, Senior Environmental Engineer, PPCB, has written to the board chairman seeking approval to forfeit the bank guaranty and to initiate proceedings for the unit's closure.

2-year- old attacked by pet: A two-year-old boy was rushed to the DMC Hospital in a serious condition after he was attacked by a pet dog in the Haibowal area here today. The boy was playing with the pet. According to one of the relatives, the boy suffered dog bites all over his body.

Three held for duping job seekers: The police on Wednesday arrested three persons, including two women, for duping four persons of Rs 29 lakh in lieu of getting them government jobs. The accused have been identified as Anmol Singh of Nangal, his cousin Navjot Kaur, a resident of Mohali and Joginder Kaur of Nangal. Nangal Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) SS Dhaliwal said Anmol used to impersonate as the PA to Punjab Chief Minister.

Date extended: The Haryana Agriculture Department has extended the last date for submitting applications to get subsidy on agriculture implements to February 28, 2013. Earlier,the applicant could apply up to November 7.

Award: Haryana’s Dynamic Integration of Property Registration, Land Records and Cadastral Maps Project has been awarded the CSI--Nihilent e-Governance Award for 2011-12 under the project category. The award was presented at the 47th annual convention of the Computer Society of India in Kolkata. Ghan Shyam Bansal, State Informatics Officer, NIC, Haryana, received the award.

Revenue collection: The Excise and Taxation Department has collected revenue of over Rs11,368.80 crore up to October during the current financial year which is 12.5 per cent higher as compared to the corresponding period last year. More than Rs.10105.16 crore was collected during the same period during last year.

Man gets 10-year jail for rape: Additional District and Sessions Judge (Fast Track) PP Ranta has sentenced Kuldip of Khairiyan village in Jhandutta to 10 years jail for rape. The court has also fined him Rs 25,000. The court has also sentenced him to jail for another year under Section 323, IPC, and a fine of Rs 1,000. The court has also ordered that Rs 20,000 be paid to the victim out of the fine collected from the convict.

2 drivers injured: Two drivers were injured when their trucks collided near Suharghat on Wednesday. Both were rushed to PHC, Suharghat. Driver Sanjay Kumar of Bilaspur was referred to the PGI, Chandigarh, and driver Tilak Raj of Mandi, was rushed to the Regional Hospital here.

Pensioners’ Day: The Himachal Pensioners Kalyan Sangh will organise a function to observe Pensioners’ Day on December 17. A function in this regard will be organised at Maharaja Palace in Baijnath.

MANDI
Woman murdered: Dinesh Kumar, a resident of Gharan under the Mandi Sadar police station, yesterday alleged that some unidentified person murdered his wife Prabhi Devi during his absence at his house on Monday night. In a complaint lodged with the police yesterday, he alleged that during the incident he was gone out for some work. The police has lodged a case of murder under Section 302, IPC, and started proceedings in the case.

NURPUR
Motorcyclist killed: Purn Chand (40) of Chuharpur near Indora died in an accident when his motorcycle skidded near Indpur on Tuesday night. He was rushed to the Community Health Centre, Indora, by 108 Ambulance and declared brought dead by the doctor on duty.

One booked: The Indora police on Wednesday booked Rajan Sharma of Surajpur village under Sections 341, 323 and 506, IPC, for assaulting and injuring Deepak Sharma of the same village. DSP Rajinder Jaswal said the accused after committing the crime was absconding.

SHIMLA
15 kg charas seized: A team of the state CID wing seized 15.450 kg of charas from a vehicle at a barrier at Burah in Mandi district late Tuesday night. According to CID officials the charas was recovered from an Alto car. The police also found Rs 3.25 lakh proposed to be used for the charas deal from the vehicle. Two other vehicles, an Indica car and another vehicle, escorting the Alto car, were also checked. The driver of one car, Nikka Ram managed to escape, six others have been arrested.

Sidhu is vice-chief of engineers’ body: RPS Sidhu of the Himachal Power Engineers’ Association has been elected vice-chairman of the Northern India Power Engineers’ Association (NIPEF). SPS Khatta, also from the state electricity board, has been elected member of the executive body of NIPEF.

ASI arrested: The Special Investigation Unit of the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau on Wednesday arrested Karam Chand, ASI in the Theog police station, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000. According to Ashok Sharma, IG (Vigilance), the ASI allegedly demanded money from the complainant for returning documents of his vehicle which had met with an accident on November 18.

State coach mentored Indian yoga team: State yoga coach Anil Gupta had accompanied the Indian yoga team which emerged victorious in the recently concluded 24th World Yoga Championship in Moscow. The championship was organised by Yoga Federation of Russia.

Grenade recovered in Bandipora: A rusted hand grenade was recovered while repairing a wall of Jamia Masjid Malamgam in Bandipora. The police said a bomb disposal squad was called in and the grenade was destroyed without causing any damages. A case has been registered in the regard.
