Schools told to upload data on monitoring website

Office of the Director General School Education has sent instructions to schools to update the data on the schools monitoring website www.epunjabschool.com .
According to the instructions sent, all the government websites have to upload the data about the students, school staff and infrastructure.
College teachers observe 2-period strike

The joint action committee, comprising members of the Punjab and Chandigarh College Teachers Union (PCCTU), Retired Employees Association and the Non-Teaching Employees Union, support of the Principals’ Federation, has decided to fight tooth and nail the alleged insensitive attitude of the Punjab Govt towards the implementation of the pension and gratuity scheme at the earliest. The teachers observed a two-period strike in their respective colleges. The members of the committee will start a chain fast tomorrow.
Man falls into trench, hospitalised
Doraha, November 22
A resident of Kaddon village, near Doraha, suffered serious injuries after his scooter fell into a trench that had been dug up for linking sewerage lines, on Tuesday night. The contractor, who has been awarded the work, had allegedly not installed any safety reflectors at the spot and the trench had been left uncovered.

Notices served on 1,500 encroachers
Deputy Commissioner Rahul Tiwari said that encroachments on the link roads will not be tolerated. Slapping notices to about 1500 defaulters in the district, Tiwari said in Ludhiana, there were link-roads in 5,000 kilometers and on more than 1,000 kms roads, the land-mafia had encroached. He asked the defaulters to remove the encroachments within 15 days else criminal cases will be registered against them.
Kingpin of drug peddlers’ gang held

The Dehlon police has nabbed the kingpin of a gang of drug peddlers and seized a rich haul of pharmaceutical products at Dehlon near here today. The accused has been identified as Md Shakeel of Bhoomsi Mohalla at Malerkotla in Sangrur. The Assistant Commissioner of Police, said the police arrested the accused while he was on his way to supply a consignment of habit-forming drugs to his customers.
3 arrested for murder charge

The police claimed to have arrested three residents of Kup Kalan village for allegedly killing two persons including an under-trial woman of the same village 4 days ago.
The accused have been identified as Sandeep Singh, Kulwinder Singh and Bhawkhandan Singh of Kup kalan village.
2 hurt as minor argument turns violent
Jagraon, November 22
Two brothers were critically injured in a clash following a minor argument on the Raikot Road this afternoon. The place where the clash took place is close to the Raikot Adda Police Chowki, but no policemen reached there even as the clash continued for around 20 minutes.
