Charges framed against accused
Chandigarh, November 22 The court framed charges against the receptionist of the UT Guest House, Paramjit Singh, and bellboy Amit Kumar. As per the case, the accused bellboy had entered the room (room no. 108) of the Deputy Commissioner from the balcony of room no. 109, in which he was staying illegally. Srinivasan had lodged a police complaint alleging an unidentified person had entered her room in her absence and left when she was sleeping on February 13. Police sources said the CCTV footage of the guest house revealed that accused bellboy had taken the keys of room no. 109 from the receptionist and locked himself in the room. Later, he entered the room of Srinivasan during night with the intention of committing a theft. When he was leaving the room his foot hit a table and Srinivasan woke up. The police investigation revealed a number of lapses on the part of the guest house management as during night, when the incident took place, not a single senior management official was present on the premises and the receptionist and bellboy were handling all the affairs of the guest house. The police sources said the investigation revealed that some of the occupants at the guest house also consumed alcohol on the premises, which was prohibited. |

Jyoti shared my financial burden, says her father

As I did not earn much, we were happy when she got a good job and started earning,” said Ram. He further added, “This Divali she had made all purchases herself and had even decorated the house.” “As I am a tailor by profession, I do not earn enough. She had come to Panchkula so that she could lend financial support to me. Every month she used to send some money to us,” said another relative. Jyoti had even told her parents that being the eldest, she would solemnise the marriage of her siblings first and then get married. Jyoti was quite close to her mother and shared every little thing with her. “She never showed any sign of depression or tension. Rather she said that she was doing quite well and she was even expecting a promotion,”said Ram. “She was the pride of our village as she was handling everything herself. She was pursuing her studies and was even working at the same time,” said the village sarpanch, Paramjit Singh. Jyoti made the last call at her home at 7 pm yesterday. “ We were totally unaware that this was her last call. She was sounding normal and she even told me that she will come home this Saturday.
