Banur
Man killed in mishap
: One person was killed in a road accident on the link road connecting Mankpur village. The deceased has been identified as Raj kumar, a resident of Mankpur village. The accident occurred when victim was hit by a motorcycle. He was shifted to PGI Chandigarh where he succumbed to his injuries today morning. The Police has registered a case against the motorcyclist Arun kumar under the Section 279 and 304A.

3 booked for forgery:
The police has booked three persons for forgery. In his petition, Rahul Makan, a resident of Panchkula, has stated that his father had 8 acres of land in Chhat. His father sold 2 acres of land to Jagdish Chand of Panchkula in 1989 and he passed away in year 2005. Meanwhile, the family remained ignorant about the aforesaid land. The family came to know that the rest of 6 acres land was transferred by Jagdish Chand in connivance with nambardar Sushil Kumar and Budhram of Chhat village by using forged documents in May, 2012. Following the directions of dera bassi court, the police had booked Jagdish, Sushil and Budhram under Sections 420, 467, and 120 B of the IPC.

Man held for raping 60-year-old:
The local police has arrested 25-year-old Gurjant Singh of Rangian village for allegedly raping a 60-year-old physically handicapped woman on Sunday night. SHO Gurmeet Singh said the victim was alone at her residence when Gurjant allegedly intruded into the house and raped the woman.

4 of family die in car accident
: Four members of an Amritsar-based family were killed on Sunday night after the car they were travelling in skidded off a bridge and fell into a water channel near here. The deceased were 60-year-old Lakhwinder Pal Singh, his wife Rekha Rani and sons Gagandeep Singh and Deepak Singh of Ajnala road in Amritsar. The family was on its way to Muktsar to attend a wedding. Sources said the bridge made over the water channel did not have a safety railing, which apparently led to the accident.

Two persons killed in road mishap:
Two persons were killed in an accident on the Anandpur Sahib-Nangal road near Mangewal village on Sunday night. The deceased have been identifed as Chaman Lal, a resident of Nalagarh district, and Kuldip Singh of Ajoli village in Nangal tehsil. Anandpur Sahib SHO Sukhwinder Singh said Chaman Lal was killed when his motorcylce was hit by a Maruti Zen car coming from the opposite direction. Kuldip, an occupant of the car, also succumbed to his injuries in a hospital.

PSPCL contractor’s man electrocuted:
Gurdit Singh (25), an employee of a contractor of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL), was electrocuted while doing some repair work in Lehragaga on Monday. The Lehra police said it had initiated proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC. Gurdit got electrocuted when he touched a wrong electricity wire at the site, it added.

Undertrial gives police the slip: An undertrial lodged in the Sangrur District Jail in a murder case escaped from police custody on Monday. Deputy Superintendent of Police Swaran Singh said the accused, Gulzar Singh, a resident of Mansa district, was taken to a local court for the hearing of his case. On the way back to the jail, he jumped from the police vehicle near Barnala Kenchian here and fled, he said. He said there were nine undertrials in the vehicle while seven policemen were escorting them.

10-kg opium siezed
: The CIA staff, Ambala, has recovered 10 kg of opium from a car bearing a Rajasthan number here today. The police has arrested three persons in this regard. According to the police, Devi Lal and Sham Lal have been booked in this regard. A case under the NDPS Act had been registered against the accused.

: Manisha Chaudhary, a student of Manohar Memorial Post Graduate College, Fatehabad, has bagged the first position in BCom Final examination of Kurukshetra University. DK Kaushik, Principal of the college, said Manisha scored 2,942 marks out of 3,600 in the final examinations held by Kurukshetra University.
