Celebrities ensure that they make up for all the fun they have lost on due to their back-to-back shoots. Prayers and lighting up the house are obviously on the agenda, but there is more to what keeps them occupied on the festival. Here some celebrities share how they celebrate the festival of lights.

Two good!
It started on a rainy night in Vancouver in 2011, when after their first meeting they decided to proceed on a musical journey together, one step at a time. The duo from Onelight — Amy Usher and Hamish Thomson - never thought a chance encounter would change everything for them. After performing at the Blue Blazer, Chandigarh, the duo wouldn’t mind coming back again, if invited.
“We met when Hamish came to teach music to my son. Later, we met over the classes and that is when he realised we had something in common. My lyrics and Hamish's music created magic,” says Amy. Amy has been writing songs almost all her life and Hamish, the drummer and producer of Onelight, has been into music since childhood. For the duo, music is an expression of the self. “The music of Onelight is spreading the message of following your heart's desires. It is through music that we want people to let go of their fears and live life whole-heartedly," adds Hamish, who along with Amy will be launching their debut album in April 2013 in Vancouver. “It has 15 songs in total. It has a blend of Hamish’s layered percussive beats and my vocals, which has created a unique sound that is reminiscent of Morecheeba, Massive Attack and Beth Orton,” Amy smiles, looking at Hamish for approval. “We do a lot of private-house band concerts in Vancouver. Our music is about strong vocals, live drum, guitar and some support from laptop background sounds,” they share. It is Amy's fourth and Hamish's first visit here; they are in India to participate in the Ra(g)asthan Music Festival. “The one thing that we love about being here is that the place has immense positive energy. People have an amazing ability to celebrate life,” they add. The interesting thing is that they don’t want to be categorized in a single genre. “We don’t like slotting ourselves in a single type of music. We play so that people can enjoy and have fun; we play according to their mood and not what we want.” But they wouldn’t call it a day before sharing their best moments ever. “It was when we played with Guilt & Company in Canada. We got they got amazing response, everyone just loved it,” they don’t put in any effort to hold back their excitement.

Time to sow
Satish Narula With little effort one can get a good harvest from the kitchen garden. Maybe by the time you get your produce, those will be available in the market too. But what is more important is the fresh produce obtained from ones own garden is that at least one knows what one is eating. It is the time to sow onion seeds for raising the seedlings to be transplanted in the first week to the mid of January. You will need 25 to 30 gm of seed for raising seedlings for one marla plot that measures 25 sq mt. The seed should be planted 1 to 2 cm deep with a little gap. The distance between the rows should be 5 cm. This will give a good growth to seedlings that is must to raise healthy bulbs. Adding fertilizers to various vegetable crops is very important. In case of garlic, the phosphorus and potash were added along with farmyard manure at the time of sowing. But the nitrogen fertilizer should be split in three doses. We need in all approximately 700 gm of urea per marla plot, that is, for 25 sq mt. This should be split in three doses. Three doses of approximately 225 gm of urea each should be applied one month, one and a half month and two months after planting. Normally when we plant peas in the garden, the common complaint is either the plants die or there is tremendous growth of foliage but not the flowering and pod formation. It is very important to understand that the peas have nitrogen fixing bacterial in roots that fix atmospheric nitrogen and thus the plants need very less external application of nitrogen. More of nitrogen leads to more of foliage and less of flowering and pod formation. After planting do not add any fertilizer to peas as all the manure and fertilizers are recommended to be added before planting. The selection of varieties can be done as per the changing weather conditions. As there is fall in temperature you can opt for European varieties. It is important to remove certain myths from the mind of gardeners. There are vegetables like peas that need bare minimum application of water. The first irrigation in peas is given 15 days after sowing. The second irrigation is given at the time of flowering and the third application of water is done at the time of pod formation. Fan & frenzy
Girls Aloud star Sarah Harding was mobbed by screaming fans after she left her hotel here. Harding, 30, was coming out of The Dorchester Hotel when she was caught off guard by fans, who had camped outside to get a glimpse of the Kardashian sisters— Kim, Khloe, Kourtney--and were thrilled to see her.
The Kardashian sisters had made the hotel their base while promoting their new clothing range—Kardashian Kollection. Even though she looked unprepared for the chaotic scenes that greeted her when she left the hotel, Harding looked overwhelmed but pleased as she chatted to a small group of fans who approached her to ask for an autograph. — PTI

Gerard’s regret
Actor Gerard Butler, who briefly dated Jessica Biel during her split from now-husband Justin Timberlake, reportedly regrets not putting more effort into their relationship. "Gerard doesn't have many regrets but not treating Jessica with the respect she deserved while they dated is one of them. He believes she was the one that got away. Jessica liked Gerard a lot, she was into his boyish nature, but she wanted something more serious," a source said.
However, Biel, 30, is now happily married to Timberlake and she recently said how their brief split made her realise what she wanted in life. "I needed to be alone for a while. It gives you a lot of strength, a lot of confidence, too, because it means you know that... any decision you make is an educated one. — PTI

I am scared to make a sci-fi film again: SRK
After trying his hand in sci-fi superhero genre with Ra.One, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is scared to experiment with this kind of films again.
Directed by Anubhav Sinha, the 3D film, which hit theatres last Divali, was made with a whopping budget of Rs 125 crore and was recognised as a technological breakthrough in Indian cinema.
"I am too scared to make a sci-fi now because they are expensive and it takes a lot of hardwork. But I will certainly try to carry forward what I have started when I have a script in mind. I am not going to give up," said Shah Rukh, who was in the Capital to promote his upcoming film Jab Tak Hai Jaan. The movie which hits theatres on November 13 is a romantic drama by the late filmmaker Yash Chopra. It also stars Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma in the lead roles. The 47-year-old actor plays the role of an Army officer, Samar Anand, Katrina playing a businesswomen named Meera and Anushka of a journalist named Akira. The Chak De star says coming back to his roots of playing a romantic hero was a beautiful experience especially because Chopra was directing it. "Yashji had a typical way of making romance. And I have given some of my major hits with him. I will keep on romancing Jab Tak Hai Jaan (till my last breathe)," he said. But the actor says he has started to feel pressurized by his King of Romance tag. "King of Romance tag is starting to pressurise me. I just love doing romantic movies and never wanted to be tagged, I thought I was a cool guy. I believe I am good at it and it has been with Yashji that I have given some of my romantic hits," he added. The actor, in his more than two decade-old career, has given romantic hits like Dil Waale Dhulania Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Dil Toh Pagal Hai and Veer Zaara. Although, present at the press conference were both the leading ladies of the film, it was Shah Rukh, who was the centre of attraction amongst the media. On working with Yash Chopra in his last movie he said, "When he used to say on sets that this is his last film I never took it seriously, nobody of us did. I used to think I can always convince him to do another one. But his death came as a shock and Jab Tak Hai Jaan is no longer just a film for me." — PTI

Lindsay settles lawsuit
Troubled star Lindsay Lohan has settled a $ 100,000 lawsuit with a limousine company and has reportedly paid her outstanding bill in full.
The 26-year-old Liz & Dick star has settled out of court with Elite Transportation Limo and Security Services who were suing her for failing to pay her $90,585.79 bill from three years ago. Lohan, who still has other on-going legal troubles and believes that Los Angeles police have a 'vendetta' against her, has reportedly paid the limo company back the entire amount she owed after using their luxury services from February to May 2009. The company is said to charge a hefty $ 6,000 an hour for its services. News of the settlement comes after Lohan pulled out of a planned interview with Barbara Walters this week. She was due to appear on 20/20 to talk about her new TV movie about Elizabeth Taylor but with recent allegations of lying to police about a car accident in June and public spats with her parents, Lohan's PR team decided it was best to cancel the interview. The actress believes law enforcement in LA have a vendetta to bring her down" and thinks they are pushing for her to be jailed for allegedly lying about being behind the wheel of a car when she crashed in June. Reports suggest charges will be filed against Lohan, who is still on probation since being found guilty of stealing a necklace in July 2011, for which she was sentenced to 120 days in prison and 480 hours of community service for lying to police. Lohan is reportedly "terrified" of going back to jail because Judge Stephanie Sautner has told her she will violate her current probation if she breaks
the law again. –PTI

Dream come true
Anushka Sharma is so proud to be part of late Yash Chopra’s last movie Jab Tak Hai Jaan that she doesn’t care much for the box office result. The actress has admitted that she signed the movie, also starring Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif, because it was Chopra’s. “I didn’t need anything else to attract me to the role,” Sharma said.
“The fact that Yash Chopraji wanted me in his film and that I am going to be a ‘Yash Raj Heroine’ was an attraction enough,” she stated. “For any actor, it’s a huge dream because he’s a brand in himself. And to get that chance so early in my career and for that dream to naturalise so early is superb,” she added. Chopra, known as one of Bollywood’s most influential filmmakers for making lavish love stories, died at the age of 80 after contracting dengue fever last month. And Sharma will not be affected much even if the movie fails to do well at the box-office because in her eyes being directed by the legendary filmmaker Chopra and acting alongside King Khan is what all means to her. – ANI

Low-key birthday for Moore
Actress Demi Moore has reportedly flown to Dubai to celebrate her 50th birthday and wants it to be a low-key affair.
The actress, who split from 34-year-old Two And A Half Men star Ashton Kutcher last November after six years of marriage, is not distressed about the milestone but wants the occasion to be a private affair. "She's not unhappy about turning 50. She looks beautiful and is feeling good after a really, really tough year," a source said. Skeletal look
Matthew McConaughey looks more skeletal after losing weight. Actor Matthew McConaughey was snapped looking shockingly frail
as he caught a flight to New Orleans.
The 43-year-old, who is losing weight for a role in the movie The Dallas Buyer's Club, is at his lowest point, weight wise. McConaughey has lost 30 lbs and gained a moustache for the role. In the movie, he plays a mid-1980s AIDS patient who seeks out experimental HIV drugs to prolong his life. "Matthew starts shooting this weekend, so he's at his absolute lowest weight. In a month, he'll begin to put it back on," a source said. The actor has flown to New Orleans to begin filming the new movie in which he plays Ron Woodruff. Earlier, the Lincoln Lawyer star admitted he found losing the extreme amount of weight to be a huge mental challenge. "I'm playing a guy who was sick and would have loved to have been healthier but wasn't. For me, it's more of a mental thing than a physical thing," he had said. — PTI

Stone age
Sukhmani Rock gardens are a favourite element of modern landscaping. It is not just a pile up of rocks haphazardly placed in your yard. They require as much planning as any other garden. A rock garden is an integrated combination of rocks and plants selected to enhance the aesthetic quality of the garden. Rock gardens can help bring a piece of nature right into your garden. They add an element of movement to an otherwise overly flat landscape. They require very little care and are thus easy to maintain. Rock gardens are ideally suited to a sloping piece of land but there is no reason why you can’t have one on a flat surface. There are however a few points to keep in mind before you start. * If your land is flat, create small mountains and re-sculpt the landscape. The base of this garden design consists of soil and coarse rocks. You will need to put these things over the entire area that you want to convert into a rock garden. * Determine the size of your garden, if it’s a large area, you will need more rocks and landscaping elements as compared to a smaller one. Make sure the garden will get sun for most part of the day. * Rocks are supremely important. Choose rocks carefully, note the colour and size you want. Odd and natural shaped rocks are best suited for recreating a natural landscape. * Create random groupings of large and small rocks all over the area. For a naturalistic look, use only one kind of rock. You will need one or two big dominating rocks and few smaller ones to complete the look. First place the large boulders and then work with the smaller ones around it. Create a footing to set the boulders so that they not only stay in place but look natural too. * Look for plants that are suited to your local climate. They should have multiple textures and colours to enhance the aesthetics of your rock garden and also require less water. * Use plants that are small in size. Take your time when setting your plants and flowers. Occasionally step back and observe if you have not grouped too many of the same flowers or plants together. * Rock gardens provide an ideal setup for a water feature. Make a natural looking stream, pond or a waterfall that compliments the garden. * As a final touch, add stepping stones or a pathway that makes you move around in your garden easily. Vishal makes a BIGG entry
TV actor Vishal Karwal who was earlier seen in reality shows like Roadies and Spiltsvilla and daily soaps Bhagyavidhaata, Pratha and the big budgeted Imagine TV show Dwarkadheesh, is now the new entrant in Bigg Boss. He spoke to us before entering the house... Why did you choose to enter the house? I think it would be fun, exciting and challenging for me. After doing TV shows, I am really excited for something different. Bigg Boss is just that. Have you been watching the fights and issues inside the house? Yes I have seen that all. I am sure it is natural that when there are so many people in one house there will be issues. Apparently you know Sapna well. What do you think of her behavior ? I don’t know her but yes I did get a haircut from her once and I know her socially. I will speak to her as a friend once I go inside. I really like Sapna as she doesn’t fake at all. That is a good quality. I think it is difficult for her to control her anger. But I also feel it isn't nice the way she expresses herself. You can be upset with many things in life but there is a way to deal with them. The way she spoke to Navjot Sidhu was absolutely wrong. I didn't like it. She shouldn't have said all that. Do you like to confront people? I am calm and composed. I hate negativity. With Bigg Boss, controversies are always attached. Do you think it will help your career? I don't know about what will happen. But I will be myself on the show which is important to me.

The year ahead
If your birthday is November 13...
The birthday evening with friends and family will be pleasant, but take care as excessive eating could upset your next morning. Simply ignore those who approach you for business credit. At home your children will present you with a situation that has been blown out of proportion - verify the facts before taking any action. You will be highly sensitive to remarks made by your lover - you need to control your emotions and avoid doing anything that could worsen the situation. You will have problems in convincing your partners to stick to your plans. Take care of your action and words as authority figure will be less understanding if you do something deceitful. People born on the 13th are very focused on their partners. Depending on your personality, you may find this unnerving or entirely flattering. They have a strong need to control their partner although this won't be immediately apparent and they may not ever admit to this. Their commitment can be so intense that it eclipses fun and makes loving them a very heavy experience. You'll be very determined, overcome all difficulties and make changes that will lead to increased earnings. You'll be soft towards your loved one and ask many questions to judge his or her sincerity; be careful as he or she could act in the same way. Personal issues may heat up; fun gatherings are likely. Whether you're looking to build your career or moving ahead in life, the stars are helpful. Don't overlook an unorthodox financial rearrangement. Try to get over your shyness. Step forward and speak to that special someone that you have not seen for far too long. The person, who is waiting, will soon be ready to move on. If a job is worth doing, it is worth doing well. Emotions may once again 'go on the rise' and if it is a spouse/partner, you may want to 'give them what they ask for.' Be careful - intimacy with someone of a dubious reputation could sully your image. In other words, you have to remain very cautious on the social front. At your workplace, you will have to be calm and patient. Do not enter into any discussion that can lead to hot arguments, which may be just trivial and of no consequence. Mood: Excited and slightly ‘over the top’.
You share your birthday with Juhi Chawla (November 13, 1967, Ludhiana), who after being crowned Miss India in 1984, starred in numerous films, including Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, Darr Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke (which earned her the Filmfare Best Actress Award) Yes Boss and Ishq. Chawla is married to industrialist Jai Mehta and they have two children. Juhi’s stars ensure her presence in films till 2018.
