Navneet Joshi Bhatti’s aide succumbs to injuries

Navneet Joshi, the 39-year-old director of media management company, and one of the son’s of former state president BJP Chandigarh, Jai Ram Joshi, passed away this morning at the Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) Ludhiana. Navneet was cremated in Chandigarh this evening.

Northern Railways GM sets deadline for upgrade of city station
Chandigarh, November 12
Northern Railways Division Manager VK Gupta, with a team of railway officials, inspects the Chandigarh Railway Station on Monday Two weeks after Pawan Kumar Bansal took over the charge of the Union Railway Minister, the railway department has finally come in to action mode with the General Manager, Northern Railways, VK Gupta, today visited the station before the up gradation work started.

Girl caught stealing cash bag at wedding
Panchkula, November 12
In yet another case, an attempt to steal a bag containing cash and jewellery worth Rs 3 lakh was made by an eight-year-old girl at a wedding venue in sector 5 here late last night. The attempt was foiled when those attending the wedding caught the girl and handed over her to the police.

An unidentified woman took away cash and ornaments from a wedding function. The party was of son of a Jawan, deployed with the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB), of the Chandigarh Police on Monday at his house in Mani Majra.

Mock drill held at General Hospital
Panchkula, November 12
A mock drill was carried out at the General Hospital, Sector 6, today. The aim of the drill was to check the reaction time of doctors while treating burn injuries. During the drill It was pretended as if a major fire broke out in a crackers' factory and many people suffered serious injuries.

Student council talks to mess contractors
Chandigarh, November 12
While some students are protest against the hike in the mess charges, the Panjab University Campus Student Council (PUCSC) held a meeting with the mess contractors to resolve the issue. The PUCSC claims that there are just a handful of students protesting against the hike and has decided to carry out a survey to know the views of students.

Minor raped in Pinjore
Kalka, November 12
A 14-year-old girl was raped in the near by village of Pinjore. The police sources confirmed, that the girl, a resident of Ishar Nagar of Pinjore, 16-years-old boy of the same locality on November 10, 2012.

One killed as car turns turtle
Ambala, November 12
One person was killed and four others injured when a car coming from Jind overturned near Jandli village on the Ambala-Hisar highway close to the Ambala City here this morning. The deceased was identified as Sudhir Kumar, a resident of Jind.

Prepare computerised medico-legal reports: HC
Chandigarh, November 12
A year after the National Informatics Centre (NIC) said it would develop a software for preparation of post-mortem and medico-legal reports on computers, Justice Rajesh Bindal of the Punjab and Haryana High Court has made it mandatory for the doctors across Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh to use it. Justice Bindal also set December 3 as the deadline for the purpose.

Forum issues warrants against Tata Motors officials

After failing to comply with the orders of the State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, warrants of arrest were issued against Tata Motors Limited officials, through its Chairman Ratan N Tata (who has been named as one of the respondents) to secure their presence before the forum.

Two booked for selling crackers without licence in Mohali
Mohali, November 12
Two cracker sellers were booked for selling fireworks at unauthorised places today.
In another case two sweets shop owners have been issued show cause notices for unhygienic conditions at their shops.

Two held for thrashing policemen
Mohali, November 12
The local police claimed to have arrested two main accused on Monday in the case of thrashing of two PCR constables on duty by a group of around 15 youngsters at Phase 3B2 market on October 26.

One killed in road accident
Chandigarh, November 12
A twenty-four-year-old man died in a road accident today. According to the police, Harpreet Singh, a resident of Dadu Majra, had erected his cracker stall at Badehri in Sector 41 and had gone home to have dinner. The police said while Harpreet was returning he met with an accident near the gurdwara at Sector 38 west. Some passer-by noticed Harpreet’s body at around 3.30 am and informed the police.

16-yr-old boy held for sodomy, sent to juvenile home
Mohali, November 12
The local police has nabbed a 16-year-old boy of Vaasibahmniya village on the charge of sodomising a 13-year-old boy of the same village today.

Public Sports Club win powerlifting crown
Chandigarh, November 12
Winners of the powerlifting trophy at the Weightlifting Hall, Sector 42, in Chandigarh Public Sports Club, Sector 56, won the overall trophy of the 20th Junior Men’s Chandigarh Powerlifting Championship, which was held at the Weightlifting Hall of the Sports Complex, Sector 42. The team secured a total of 68 points to bag the title.
