More facilities to come up at Suvidha Centre
Dera Bassi, September 5 Talking to media persons, Varun said more public facilities would be created at the center. When he was asked about the traffic problem which could become more serious with the construction of the proposed judicial complex near tehsil complex, he said the problem would be resolved by finding out options as proper space for parking in the new judicial complex and widening of road. On the occasion, SDM Inderjeet Kaur Kang, tehsildar Mandeep Singh Dhillon and Naib tehsildar Rajpal Sekhon said revenue record of about 110 villages was computerised out of 150 villages to provide revenue related documents to people soon of this sub-division and that 40 villages would covered soon. Notably, Suvidha Centers had been set up to provide revenue related documents, marriage certificates, senior citizen card, copies of registration of land, other backward class certificates, caste certificates, schedule caste certificates, residents certificates, affidavit and the RTI. |

125 students attend workshop
Dera Bassi, September 5 The institute was selected for a zonal centre for the workshop. More than 125 students from different colleges attended the workshop. The main theme of the workshop was topromote the spirit of entrepreneurship among the students. The three selected teams will submit their detailed business plan before September 15, 2012. If the Confluence Judge and Nurture Talent Academy find their plans up to the mark then these teams will be allotted a mentor/entrepreneur who will guide them throughmaking practical changes in their business plans. Inderjeet Bajaj, Chairman Swami Parmanand Group of Colleges thanked the resource personal of Nurture Talent Academy for making students aware regarding entrepreneurship. |
Four youngsters scuffle with witness at district courts
Chandigarh, September 5 Ajay, a resident of Daddu Majra colony, had come to the district courts to depose in a case of attempt to murder. He was stabbed last year and the police had registered a case under Section 307 of the IPC acting on his complaint. During a hearing in the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge SS Sahni, Ajay deposed in the witness box against accused Tarsem and others. He identified the four accused who were present in court. The four then argued with him after coming out of the court. A naib court, Bheem Singh, sensed trouble and informed the police control room about the heated argument going on between them. The police reached the spot and took them to the police station. However, they reached a compromise. A daily diary report has been filed at the Sector 17 police station. |

Gold chain snatched; 2 chains stolen
Chandigarh, September 5 Saroj Bala, a resident of Kurukshetra, and Sudha Rani, a resident of Sector 46, reported to the police that their gold chains were stolen at a bus stop near the PGI. A case under Section 379, IPC, has been registered. Asha Devi, a resident of Sector 45, alleged that a motorcycle-borne man sped away after snatching her gold chain at Sector 45. Soccer team gets kits at eleventh hour
Chandigarh, September 5 The team was expecting their kits at least three days before the competition to have time for trying out studs and other items. “We were expecting the kit a bit early in order to get used to it. But we were provided the kit just before our departure from the city. We have taken our own kits. It is impossible to wear these shoes for playing match, but we will surely wear the jerseys and shorts,” said a player. According to the officials of the UT Education department, the delay in providing kits was due to the e-tendering system. “The delay was due to the e-tendering system. Hopefully the other teams will get the kits in time. I don’t know the exact timings when the kits were distributed to the players, but there was a delay due to the on-spot purchasing criteria,” said Ram Kumar Sharma, District Education Officer. The assistant education officer (sports) added, “Our e-tendering bid are expected to open on September 19. Due to the early dates of the nationals of soccer, the kits were purchased on spots. Moreover, the players were given a proper kit. It’s better to have something than nothing. The other teams will get the kits and all other sports wear on time,” said Rajeev Tondon. When asked, if non-football coaches accompany the team, he said, “The team constitutes of a single coach and the other two to accompany the team are the physical education teachers. The coach has an important role to play. The other two are there to look after the players,” he said. |
