Barnala
Domestic disputes settled:
A meeting of the Women Cell of the Barnala district police was held under the presidentship of inspector Jaswinder Kaur today. Seven cases were taken up at the meeting and four of them were settled amicably on the spot. Inspector Jaswinder Kaur said the Cell was working to solve domestic disputes to provide happiness to the families concerned.

Nawanshahr
Two held with 100 kg poppy husk:
The Mukandpur police nabbed two drug peddlers, identified as Harvinder Kumar of Sultanpur (Kapurthala) and Surjit Kaur of Behram (Jalandhar), from a naka near T-Point Shikara and seized 100 kg of poppy husk from their possession. The accused were travelling by a Tata Sumo. Seeing the police party, the driver tried to flee. But the police party chased them down and arrested them. A case under Sections 15, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered.

Tarn Taran
Two booked for firing:
Two residents of Dugalwala village have been booked for firing in the village to terrorise their neighbour. The accused have been identified as Surjit Singh and Sahib Singh. Gurpreet Singh, a resident of the same village, in his complaint to the police, alleged that the accused opened fire at him when he was unloading bricks from a vehicle which collided with their scooter.

Educational hub:
Haryana will become an educational hub of international standard in within a few years , said Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda here. Hooda said special attention was being paid to the education sector.

Rewari
Traffic blocked:
Residents of Dhamlawas village on Friday blocked traffic on the Rewari-Narnaul road, after placing the body of Usha Devi in the middle of the road. They demanded immediate arrest of her husband and in-laws who had allegedly set her on fire on August 19. Meanwhile, the police has arrested the deceased’s husband.

SONEPAT
Life term:
Manoj of Lal Kuan in Delhi on Friday was sentenced to life imprisonment by the District and Sessions Judge, Kuldeep Jain, after convicting him as accused in the murder of Dhoni of Sirasta in Unnao district of UP here on August 27, 2011.
