Samples of milk and jam collected by the health department about 15 days ago have failed purity test.
On July 18 early morning, the health department had collected samples of milk from milk vendors from near Domoria Bridge and the Civil Surgeon's office.
3-member support cell formed

College suspends professor

After the span of two years the management of Kamla Lohtia SD College and permanent college staff are again at loggerheads. The agitation of permanent staff including professors, non-teaching and the class IV employees continued today for 12th day. Meanwhile, studies of students have been suffering due to discord between teachers and the college management. The college does not have sufficient staff to teach the students.
Bhattian STP's capacity up

After getting rap from newly appointed MC Commissioner regarding the delay, the sewerage board has increased the capacity of Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) in Bhattian village from 111 MLD (million litre per day) to 161 MLD. This upgradation of STP was running behind schedule and after MC Commissioner Rakesh Kumar Verma pulled up sewerage board officials, the project was completed.
Central verge fixed at Old Court Chowk

From stiff challaning of traffic violators to towing away of vehicles, the city police seems serious in its endeavour to make the city roads safe for residents.
Today, the traffic police erected central verge (traffic cones) near Old Court Chowk to regulate traffic.

30 low-floor buses to reach city by Aug 31

The next lot of 30 low-floor non-AC buses is expected to reach the city before August 31. The final decision in this regard will be taken at the board of directors' meeting of Ludhiana City Bus Service Ltd (LCBSL) scheduled for next week.

Ludhiana: The first conference of the Textile Mazdoor Union (TMU) will commence here on Saturday at Dharamshala in Manjit Nagar near Abdulpura railway crossing here while the workers will also hold a public rally at GLADA grounds on the Chandigarh Road on Sunday. Vishavnath, a member of the steering committee, nearly 200 delegates were elected by more than 2,250 members of the union will take part in the conference which would deliberate and adopt constitution of the body. Newlywed elopes with paramour

A 25-year-old newlywed woman has fled with her paramour after sedating her husband. They even took away the cash and gold jewellery lying in the house.
