corruption case Tribune News Service
Chandigarh, July 19 Accusing the CBI of biased investigation, the complainant in a corruption case involving a UT police Sub-Inspector as the accused has moved an application to include the former SHO, Inspector Dilsher, also as an accused in the case. The complainant alleged that the Inspector was equally involved in demanding bribe, yet the CBI gave him a clean chit despite the fact that he was booked earlier. The complainant moved an application under Section 319 of the CrPc in the CBI Court today. The application was accepted and a notice has been issued to the CBI to file a reply by July 25. Earlier last year, the CBI had given a clean chit to Inspector Dilsher Singh Chandel and his name was dropped from the chargesheet. The case was registered in 2010 when a trap was laid after receiving a complaint from Gagan Gupta. As per the complaint, Sub Inspector Hans Raj had demanded a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from Gagan to favour him in a case of cheating in which he was granted an anticipatory bail by the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Gagan alleged that Hans Raj had demanded Rs 1 lakh bribe to help him in the investigation of the case and when he expressed his inability to pay such a huge amount, he reduced the bribe money to Rs 40,000. At the time of the registration of the case, the CBI had arrested the then SHO, Industrial Area police station Inspector Dilsher Singh, along with the Sub Inspector. However, Dilsher was given a clean chit as the CBI found no evidence against him. During the hearing of the case, the complainant had recorded his statements that the bribe was demanded by the SI at the behest of the SHO. “Since the CBI is not moving an application, I urge the court to please summon the Inspector as he was hand in glove with the SI and had his share in the bribe,” said Gagan Gupta. |
