She was the apple of her parents’ eyes before their relations turned sour. The world of three-year-old Rhythm, the only child of Pooja and Vajinder, has come crumbling down, much before she can even begin to comprehend the meaning of life.
The little girl has been missing her mother and crying incessantly since July 13 when Pooja went missing.

Realtor firm in soup for selling plots illegally
Panchkula, July 17
The economic offences wing (EOW) wing of the police today registered an FIR against against Ishan Developers and Infrastructures Limited, a Chandigarh-based realtor firm, for fraudulently selling plots in Sector 16 of Panchkula Extension-II, which were not owned by the company. The town and country planning department had not given license to the firm for selling the plots.
Wife booked for beating up jeweller-husband
Chandigarh, July 17
In an unusual incident, probably the only one of its kind in recent years, a woman belonging to a high-profile family and resident of Sector 9, beat up and injured her husband today. The woman is yet to be arrested.

Bus runs over girl’s leg

A day after a Punjab Roadways bus crushed a rickshaw, killing three persons, including a two-year-old child, in Sector 43, a 17-year-old student of Class XI at Government Model Senior Secondary School for Girls was injured after a speeding CTU bus ran over her leg near Tagore Theatre in Sector 18.

UT Admn holds meeting on earthquake preparedness

In continuation of the press conference held last month by the National Disaster Management Authority
(NDMA) regarding taking up the task of making residents of the tricity more aware of contingencies like that of the earthquake, a meeting of all heads of departments of the Chandigarh Administration was held today to discuss the future course of action on the multi-state earthquake campaign.
The meeting was presided over by Prof Harsh Kumar Gupta and T Nand Kumar, members of the
NDMA, and KK Sharma, Adviser to the Administrator.

Wireless sets for enforcement dept field staff approved

Sounds strange, but the municipal corporation has approved an outdated technology of wireless sets for better communication between the field staff of enforcement department inspectors, though they are equipped with mobile phones for the same.
At the meeting of the enforcement committee here today, it was decided that all 16 inspectors and sub-inspectors would have wireless sets for communicating in the field with each other during anti-encroachment drives.
