Acute power scarcity in
Kalka, Pinjore
Kalka, June 14 The residents of Pinjore said that there have been unscheduled power cuts these days for more than 11 hours a day. They further alleged that power breakdown, which occurred due to some major fault, also leads long power cuts, which causes great inconvenience to them, specially in the rural areas. Due to the failure of feeder of Shahpur village, several villagers adjacent to Pinjore were deprived of the electricity for more than 17 hours, as it took 17 hours to resume the power supply. The electricity department is facing staff shortage these days. Same is the story of Kalka residents, as they are also facing unscheduled power cuts on an average for more than nine hours these days. Several areas of Kalka, specially, the rural areas are complaining of low voltage problem. The inhabitants of Tagra Kali Ram , adjacent to Bharat Nagar, Kalka alleged low voltage problem. Most of the electricity equipments have been damaged due to the low voltage. The department of UHBVN, Kalka has negligent attitude towards them, as they have not installed feeder in the village for the past more than five years. |

Air Commodore Patnaik takes charge at AF station Ambala
Ambala, June 14 An alumnus of the NDA and that of the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, Air Commodore DK Patnaik was commissioned on Jun 08, 1984 in the fighter stream of Indian Air Force. He has flown over 2,600 hours on various types of aircraft of the IAF. He is a qualified Fighter Combat Leader and has flown Mig-21 and Mirage 2000 fighter aircraft. In his 28 years of service career, Air Commodore Patnaik has held numerous important field commands and staff appointments at Command and Air HQ. He has commanded a frontline Air Defence Unit in WAC and EW range. He has undertaken important foreign assignments from time to time. He was awarded Vayu Sena Medal Gallantry during Kargil operation in 1999.

5 employees suspended

14 The minister also went through the office records minutely. He has asked the secretary transport to order their immediate suspension and issue stern warning to those who came late. While talking to the media persons, the minister said that he has directed the officers in the districts and state headquarters to be punctual and truthfully discharge their official duties. Rs 1 lakh snatched
Ambala, June 14 According to information, Savitri a resident Preet Vihar had withdrawn Rs 1 lakh from State Bank of India, Model Town, branch this noon. After withdrawing the money, she was going to her house along with her brother on a motorcycle. When she reached near Jandli railway crossing, two youths appeared on a motorcycle. One of the youths snatched her purse carrying the cash. The woman raised an alarm for help but the robbers managed to flee from there. The police has registered a case against unidentified robbers. No clue of the robbers was achieved so far. |

Bribe charge
Chandigarh, June 14 According to information available, juice-vendor Satish had complained that Ram Nivas had been harassing him from the last couple of days for a bribe of Rs 5,000. He reported the matter to the CBI, which laid a trap. Satish agreed to give Rs 1,000 to the constable. Three men create ruckus, attack watchman

The SHO police station, Sector 5, said that after receiving the complaint they have registered the daily diary report.
He said they awaiting the CCTV footage and a manhunt would be launched to nab the culprits. Narrating the incident to the media, here today, the landlady Meenakshi Garg said that she along with her sons Harsh and Dhruv and her sister were going to sleep when they heard the sound of a car stopping near the main gate. She said three accused started slamming the main gate with
feet and as they saw a CCTV camera installed at the gate they damaged it. Thereafter, she immediately informed the security agency, which had installed the CCTV cameras. Garg said that after hearing the noise she asked the watchman to check as to who was creating ruckus near the gate. She alleged that as soon as Rana opened the gate the accused caught hold of him and started beating him with an iron rod besides hurling abuses on her family. She further alleged that three accused also threatened that they would eliminate her husband Lovelish Garg and other members of the family. However, Lovelish was not in the house as he was recuperating at a relative’s house as he was recently operated for kidney ailment. She rued that even though the security agency had arrived at the site on time but they did not chase the accused who fled from the site after making ruckus for about 6 to 7 minutes. However, CEO of the security company said that their main duty was to reach the site within few minutes and provide security cover to the family. He said it was not their duty to chase the criminals but assist the family by safeguarding their lives and property. |

Two accidents reported in city
Chandigarh, June 14 He was walking on the road near the Thakur Dwara Mandir at Mani Majra when the accident took place. He was injured and admitted to the PGI. The vehicle was identified. Sukhwinder Singh of Sardoolgarh in the Mansa district of Punjab reported that the driver of a three-wheeler, Jeewan Kumar, hit his motorcycle, being driven by Butta Singh. It was hit near the traffic lights on the road separating Sectors 40 and 41. The motorcyclist was injured and admitted to the PGI. The accused was arrested and released on bail. |

Chandigarh, June 14 The bag contained Rs 3,000, a PAN card, a credit card, a gold earring, a USB and some documents. The incident occurred near the Sanatan Mandir at Sector 38 on June 13. A case under Sections 356 and 379 of the IPC was registered at the police station in Sector 39.

House burgled
Chandigarh, June 14 According to the police, the theft took place when the owner of the house was not in town. According to complainant Amrik Singh Ahluwalia, the theft took place between June 7 and June 13. Apart from household goods, Rs 45,000 was missing from the house. A case under Sections 457 and 380 of the IPC was registered at the police station in Sector 19. The case was under investigation. |

Junior football camp to target 2,500 students in city
Chandigarh, June 14 The selection process is being organised for the first time in the city. On their return, five youngsters would receive training scholarships under the youth development programme of India’s National Club-Mohun Bagan. In addition, cash prizes worth Rs 7.20 lakh would be given to three winners from every city where the selection process will take place. The camp in Munich would provide an opportunity to teenagers between the age group of 14-16 years from across the world to meet and train with the legendary FC Bayern Munich coaches on the club’s official training ground. They would also get a chance to attend a match at Allianz Arena, the unique football stadium, and meet football stars from FC Bayern Munich like Thomas Mueller, Bastian Schweinsteiger and others. Manish Kumar, senior regional manager, Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance (North Zone), said the junior football camp would target 2,500 students across 35 top schools and 15 football clubs and academies in Chandigarh. He said the selection process would also be held in Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Kerala, Kolkata and North East and added that overall 45,000 youngsters will be targeted during these camps.
