Abohar
Two booked on rape charge
: A farm worker and his landlord have been booked by the Khuyiansarwar police for allegedly raping a minor girl. The victim reportedly told the police that the accused farm worker had promised to marry her as they had developed proximity while working together in an agricultural farm at Danewala Satkosi village, about 15 km from here. The farm worker allegedly served her tea that was mixed with some intoxicating substance, and raped her later. As the landlord turned up on the scene, he too raped her. She said she was sexually assaulted for two days. A case under Sections 376, 363, 366 and 34 of the IPC has been registered. The police has initiated an investigation.

Woman ends life: Upset over the "illicit" relation her husband had allegedly developed with a woman, one Poonam Rani ended her life by hanging herself from a ceiling fan, the police said. Five persons have been booked under Section 306 of the IPC after recording the statement of the deceased's brother, the police said. The couple had got married six years ago and had two daughters and a son. 

Snake bite: A one-and-a-half years old girl, Khushpreet, died of snake bite in Sunder Nagari here. Subhash Chander said his daughter was heard crying while playing in the courtyard of their house and a snake was noticed around. The kid was taken to the Civil Hospital but could not be saved.

Electrocuted
: A labourer working at an under-construction building on the Panchayati Dharmshala Marg in Gidderbaha, was electrocuted on Sunday morning. The deceased identified as Balkaran Singh, a native of Peori village, was engaged in construction work and reportedly came into contact with electricity wires. He was immediately rushed to a local hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Life term
: Seven persons, including two women, were sentenced to life term in a murder case here on Friday. The court has also sentenced one-year imprisonment to all accused under Sections 147 and 148 of the IPC. A fine of Rs 5,000 on each has been also imposed on them. Both sentences will run concurrently.

Maha Singh is addl Chief Secy
: The Haryana Government has appointed IAS Maha Singh, on return from leave, as Additional Chief Secretary, Fisheries Department, against a vacant post with immediate effect. He will also look after the Industrial Training Department during the leave period of RP Chander. 

Kurukshetra
Man killed
: Nasib Singh of Bodla village was killed on the spot when his motorcycle was hit by a car near Sirsma village on the Kurukshetra-Ladwa road on Thursday. A case has been registered in this connection on a complaint by Nasib Singh’s nephew, Surender Kumar. 

24 cases settled: As many as 24 cases were settled in a Lok Adalat organised by the District Legal Service Authority and presided over by the District Legal Service Authority chairman-cum-District and Sessions Judge, Lalit Batra, at the Judicial Complex here on Saturday. 

Police custody: The police has arrested Mandip of Yara and Karamvir of Haripur for stealing a motorcycle from outside Punjab National Bank, Shahabad, on May 21. Both of them were produced in a court here on Saturday, which remanded them in police custody for two days.

Case of cheating
: Following a complaint filed by Dharam Pal, tehsildar-cum-sub-registrar of Kosli, the Kosli police has registered a case of cheating, forgery and criminal conspiracy against Mahesh Sharma, Sharda Yadav, Ram Niwas Nambardar and Dharam Chand, all residents of Jharoda village, near Kosli. Police sources said even while Dinesh Sharma, who had endowed his maternal uncle, Mahesh Sharma, with power of attorney for his piece of agricultural land measuring about five kanals and seven marlas, died in May, 2010, Mahesh Sharma deceitfully sold the above land to Sharda Yadav in August 2011in connivance with Ram Niwas Nambardar and Dharam Chand. 

Woman dies: Sarita Devi (34) died after she consumed a poisonous substance by mistake at Zenabad village, 25 km from here, on Saturday. She is survived by her husband, Vikas, and two children. 

Suicide: Narpal Yadav (26) committed suicide by hanging himself at Berli Kalan village, 18 km from here, on Saturday. A police official said the youth was addicted to liquor and he took the step under the influence of liquor.

BILASPUR
Labourer killed
: Anil Kumar (27) of Diyaad village working as a labourer with a contractor for laying power lines at Kutheda section in the Rangdu Neu Palian area was killed when he climbed up an electric pole and touched a live wire and fell down. The injured labourer was rushed to a hospital but he succumbed to his injuries there. A case has been registered against the local Electricity Board officials and the contractor. 

Power man killed: Roshan Lal, an employee of the state Electricity Board, of Seehdha village suddenly slipped from top of power poles while trying to unload the poles from a truck at Bagin Banolla village on Saturday. He was injured seriously and rushed to Regional Hospital. Later, he was referred to the PGI, Chandigarh, but he succumbed to his injuries before reaching the PGI. A case has been registered. 

CHAMBA
Dispensary: Residents of Chamba town, including various prominent organisations like the Chamba Welfare Association, Chamba District Progressive Council, Senior Citizens Forum, the Pensioners Welfare Association and other organisations, have urged the state government to resume the functioning of an ayurvedic dispensary on the premises of the regional hospital located in the heart of Chamba town.

 Infant’s body found 
:An infant’s body was found in Kulgam district of south Kashmir today. The unidentified body was recovered from Warson Nullah, near Turigam, Yaripora, a police spokesperson said here. The police has registered a case in this regard.
