Six returning officials appointed for MC polls
Jalandhar, April 30
To conduct the civic polls expected in June, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer has divided responsibilities of 60 wards among six groups of 10 each. Each group is placed under a PCS official. The six PCS officials have been appointed as returning officers (RO).

Batala, April 30
Two people sustained serious injuries when a bus and motorcycle collided here today. Khajan Singh, a resident of Ghumman Kalan village, was riding a motorcycle along with his grandfather Sulakhan Singh and grandmother Surinder Kaur.

Six returning officials appointed for MC polls

Jalandhar, April 30
To conduct the civic polls expected in June, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer has divided responsibilities of 60 wards among six groups of 10 each. 
Each group is placed under a PCS official. The six PCS officials have been appointed as returning officers (RO).

The RO appointed for ward number 1 to 10 is Deputy Director Local Bodies, wards 11 to 20 will be taken care by District Transport Officer, wards 21 to 30 will be under SDM-1, wards 31 to 40 would be with SDM-2, wards 41 to 50 would be under Deputy Excise and Taxation Commissioner, wards 51 to 60 would be under secretary, RTA.

DEO Priyank Bharti said the voter list would be published by May 2 and would be on the basis of list finalised by the election department on January 1, 2012. He has invited objections to the list by May 9. The objections would be cleared by May 16 after which the final list would be published on May 20.

2 injured in road accident

Batala, April 30
Two people sustained serious injuries when a bus and motorcycle collided here today.

Khajan Singh, a resident of Ghumman Kalan village, was riding a motorcycle along with his grandfather Sulakhan Singh and grandmother Surinder Kaur.

As they reached near Sugar Mill a bus hit the motorcycle from behind. Khajan Singh’s grandparents were admitted to hospital.
