(PCA), GS Walia, had a heart attack this evening after attending work at the PCA Stadium. He was taken to a hospital.

Youth killed in mishap: A youth was killed when two motor cycles collided near Jhar Sahib Gurudwara on Ratia road here
today. The victim, Kuldeep (30), had a cloth shop at Balmiki Chowk here. He was returning to Fatehabad after dropping his ailing wife at Boswal village. Kuldeep was rushed to the General Hospital, which referred him to a private hospital as the facility of a ventilator was not there.
He, however, died during treatment.

Kidnapped girl recovered, 1 held: Led by Inspector Pratap Thakur, a police team of Bilaspur Sadar police station here, has succeeded in arresting Shah
Nawaz, son of Shakeel Mohammed, for enticing a 14-year-old girl of Diara sector of the town and taking her away to some outside place. SP Santosh Patial said here on Tuesday that on April 20, the girl’s parents had filed an FIR saying that the accused had kidnapped her and seemed to have allured her for marriage. On April 23 the accused was apprehended from his home Gali No. 5, Chandbagh
(Mustafabad) in Delhi.

3 held with 65 kg medicinal herbs: Three persons were arrested and medicinal herbs weighing 65 kg being illegally smuggled seized from them near Jwans in Salooni tehsil in Chamba district adjacent to the borders of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday. SP Madhu Sudan Sharma said the three accused had been identified as Abbas
Mohd, Yaseen Mohd and Hans Raj, all of Salooni area.

Body recovered from bus stand: The police recovered the body of a 40-year-old man from the bus stand complex here on Tuesday. SDPO, Kangra, Dinesh Kumar said the police was informed that a body was lying at the bus stand. The DSP said later he was identified as Hussan Lal Soni of Chamok village of Badsar tehsil in Hamiprur district. He said the police had started investigation under Section 174,
CrPC.

Man gets jail for rash driving: Judicial Magistrate (Class I) Praveen Chauhan has sentenced Sanjiv Kumar of Patiala to one-year imprisonment after the court found him guilty of negligence in driving. The judge also imposed a fine of Rs 2,500 on him failing which he will have to serve one month and 15 days each in jail.
Sanjiv, who was driving a pick-up, gave lift to Narpat Ram and others on his way to Kullu from Duwada on the highway. But the vehicle hit a tree near Nagwani in which Narpat died, while others sustained serious injuries. NURPUR
Woman’s body found from well: The body of Aruna Kumari (38) of Sakoh village was found from a roadside well at Kher near Rehan on Tuesday. The deceased, a mother of two daughters, had been missing for the past one week and her family had lodged a report in the police station on April 19. DSP Rajinder Jaswal said a case had been regisered under Section 174, CrPC. The deceased was under depression and being treated at Tanda Medical College,
Kangra.

SDMs shifted: The Uttarakhand Government has transferred five Subdivisional Magistrates (SDMs). SDM, Uttarakashi, PL Shah and SDM, Dehradun, Manmohan Singh have been transferred to Pauri district.
SDM, Pauri, Girish Chandra Gunwant has been transferred to Dehradun. SDM, Chamoli, Mohan Singh has been transferred to Rudraprayag while Shiv Kumar Barnwal who was posted in Rudraprayag has been transferred to Uttarkashi.

‘Arogya rath’ of NRHMAn 'arogya rath' being run under the National Rural Health Mission will cover Champawat district over the next three months along with mobile dispensaries of the Health Department. The schedule for the same has been released by the Health Department. It has been ensured that no area remains untouched by the attempt being made to take health facilities at the doorstep of the people in the remote areas of the district. An appeal has been made to the people to make use of the facility being extended to them.
District Magistrate pulls up officialsDistrict Magistrate, Champawat, Ashish Joshi has pulled up officials of the Education, Swajal and Youth Welfare Departments for having failed to utilise the funds allocated to them during the last financial year. At a review meeting, Joshi expressed displeasure at the poor utilisation of the funds under the District Plan, Centre-sponsored schemes and schemes of the state government. The DM asked the officials of the Education Department to immediately take initiatives to utilise the money and told Swajal officials to undertake the construction of toilets in schools, along with total sanitation efforts in barat ghars in villages.
Bid to rob jeweller thwartedTwo motorcycle-borne youths allegedly tried to rob a jeweller in Haldwani on late Monday evening. According to information, the miscreants stopped the two-wheeler being driven by Manik Babbar and pointed a country-made pistol on his head before attacking him with a knife. Babbar and his employee Raghunath Kadam, who was riding the pillon, sustained injuries. Hearing the commotion, people gathered at the spot. Seeing the crowd, the miscreants managed to flee from the spot. Investigations are on in the matter.
Undertrial dies An undertrial at the Haldwani sub-jail died while being treated at a local hospital for drug addiction. Ramesh Kumar (40), a resident of Rudrapur, was accused of smuggling charas and was arrested last year. His wife Meena alleged that he managed to procure drugs inside the jail and this led to his death on Monday. However, the charge has been refuted by the jail authorities, which said he had been admitted to the hospital on April 21 immediately after his condition became bad and he showed symptoms of uneasiness.
Poppy husk seizedThe Kitcha police on Monday arrested one person and seized 10 kg of poppy husk from his possession. The accused has been identified as Brajesh Kumar. He was arrested from the Pull Bhatta area. (Compiled by Rajeev Khanna)
