15 booked for housing society irregularities
Panchkula, April 22 Uday Veer Gupta, a resident of Sector 12, Panchkula in his complaint lodged with the police had alleged that he became a member of group housing society number 104 E, Sector 20, in the year 2006 paying Rs 18.5 lakh and was told that the society had a total of 20 members. However, in November 2010, he received a letter regarding the enhanced cost of the flat in the society with the directions to deposit a sum of Rs 10 lakh in the account of the society. On asking the clarification for enhancing the cost, the office-bearers asked him to leave the membership, and said that the number of flats in the society had been increased from 20 to 24, he alleges. The increase in the number had led to a reduction in the actual total area of the flats,. The contract of the building in the society was allocated to the company owned by the father of an ex-president and even property dealers were enrolled as members of the society, alleged Gupta. He claims that he has procured the record of many societies located in Sec 20 and has detected that many members in this society had got their family members on the roll of three other neighbouring societies which was a violation of the cooperative societies bye laws. These irregularities could not be committed without the connivance of concerned government officials. Following this, the district police has booked 15 people, including the inspector of cooperative society, assistant registrar, cooperative society, an architect, presidents of four housing societies and members of the managing committees. |
