Tribune News Service

Chandigarh, April 8
The Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum has directed Kotak Mahindra Bank to pay Rs 50,000 to Dula Ram Khimta, a resident of Shimla district, on account of mental agony, harassment and costs of litigation during issuance of the NOC for his Mahindra Bolero vehicle.

He had taken a loan of Rs 3 lakh and given blank cheques to the company in return for his financing benefits. The company reportedly gave him trouble even after he had made the due payments for issuance of the NOC.

Khimta alleged that he was made to sign certain loan documents having blank columns. He had also given 38 blank cheques for Rs 10,000 each to the company. Despite paying the entire amount, the company did not issue the NOC to Khimta. He issued a legal notice to the insurance company for not providing him the NOC. The Bank, on its part, too, issued a legal notice to him saying that Rs 35,323 was still to be paid by Khimta instead. Khimta gave a reply but there was no development on the issue because of which he moved the consumer court.

President of the forum PD Goel, Rajinder Singh Gill and Madanjit Kaur sahota, both members, in the order of the consumer court pronounced that "the NOC was issued to the complainant one and a half years after filing of the complaint in the forum." This worked out to roughly eight years after its due date. The forum awarded Rs 35,000 and Rs 15,000 as compensation and litigation costs, separately, to Khimta.

Deepankar Sharda
Tribune News Service

Chandigarh, April 8
Bollywood stars, martial arts experts, models displaying round’s number, loud music, they all failed to attract the attention of the local masses during the star-studded and highly claimed as ‘attractive’ Super Fight League, at the Circus Grounds at Sector 17 last night. And what the masses might have missed is the new technology used for the comfort of the audience.

Easy to shift, comfortable and moreover durable, new T-Box technology stands, were set up by the organisers with the aim of making the event more attractive and comfortable. The stands were used in the city for the first time at an event taking place in the open.

Popularly known as “mobile stands”, these stands, which are made of light steel, are regularly used at various boxing championships in Mumbai and also at international football stadiums. Not only at the open games but the stands are also used in many indoor stadiums.

“These stands are specially made to provide comfort to the audiences keeping in mind the aspect of the organisers also. The stuff is a mixture of light steel and aluminium. The main advantage of the stands is that they are easy to ferry as also helpful in allotting more space to the audiences. These stands were successfully used at the Moruleng stadium in Rustenburg during practice sessions for the England football team during the FIFA World Cup 2010,” said Nupur Vaidya, general manager TansStadia.
