DEOs instructed to inspect schools

The education department is all set for the new academic session of schools, starting from April 2. The State Project Officer of Director General School Education gave instructions to all District Education Officers (DEO) for a special inspection of all the schools on that day. State Project Director Sarva Sikshya Abhiaan (SSA)-cum-Director General School Education Ashok Singla stated, "To ensure good education standards, the District Education Officers should visit all schools of the district to check the status of education".
Mixed reaction to education minister’s remark

Teachers and unions have had a mixed reaction to the Education Minister's statement regarding the sanctioning of ex-India leave (if one wants to go abroad after taking leave) to teachers. Education Minister Sikander Singh Maluka has stated that teachers will have to resign if they want leave for more than three months.

Jewellers throughout the country will observe an indefinite hunger strike in protest against the excise duty and consumer tax levied on them in the Budget. Jewellers from Ludhiana will gather at the Fountain Chowk tomorrow and continue their indefinite hunger strike.
Eye hospital to be inaugurated today
