Lalton Khurd village a model for judicious use of fertiliser

The Department of Soil Science, PAU, in collaboration with the Agriculture Department, organised a field day at Lalton Khurd village, near here, on judicious use of fertiliser (nitrogen) using the leaf colour chart (LCC). The chief guest, Dr Gursharan Singh, Dean, Post Graduate Studies, appreciated the farmers of the village for adopting the LCC technology recommended by the PAU for the optimum use of the nitrogen fertiliser in the village.

MC offices abuzz with activity

Even as the current financial year is coming to an end, the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation seems all set to surpass its target of Rs 40 crore, which it had set for the recovery of pending house tax, water and sewerage bills, building branch dues, etc. Today, the MC recovered around Rs 2.5 crore, taking up the figure to Rs 35.5 crore.

Punjab National Bank's social welfare wing "PNB Prerna", in association with the Bharat Vikas Parishad, distributed tricycles to the needy today. HS Bhatia, field general manager, said that the bank has a responsibility towards the society and to fulfill this responsibility the bank's social welfare wing undertakes such initiatives. "Last time we distributed books and stationery material among the needy students, and this time we distributed tricycles," he said.
