Daylight ‘robbery’ of Rs 22 lakh sends police in tizzy

A case has been registered against Rakesh Sharma, a resident of Haibowal Khurd, working as a senior assistant in the District Sainik Welfare Office, Nawanshahr, and Gurlal Singh, a resident of Ghumar Mandi, under Sections 420-511 of the IPC at Division Number 1 for drawing a cheque-book by allegedly forging signatures of District Sainik Welfare Officer, Ludhiana on January 21.

MC recovers Rs 20-crore dues in Feb

In its recent recovery drive, the Municipal Corporation has recovered about Rs 20 crore in February. In a press note issued here today, Municipal Commissioner MS Jaggi has said that the MC has set a target to collect at least Rs 1 crore on every working day. He appreciated his officials and staff for recovering a good amount of money. The commissioner said they would achieve a target to recover Rs 40 crore in March.
