85 goats charred to death
in Bageshwar: In a fire incident reported from Bageshwar district, 85 goats and their 15 kids were charred to death. The incident took place in Malladesh Farsali village of the district. The animals were locked in a room that was gutted after the fire broke out. The house belonged to Bhawani Lal. The members of the household were sleeping in an adjacent building when the incident took place. The loss has been pegged at Rs 3.5 lakh. The matter has been reported to the administration and relevant compensation has been demanded for the owner of the animals. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.1 killed, 3 hurt as bus falls into gorge:
One person was killed while three others were injured when the car they were travelling in fell into a gorge in the Bantoli area of Lohaghat in Champawat district. They were on thier way to Tanakpur from Dhyari when the accident took place. The deceased has been identified as 50-year-old Dewan Singh Bisht of Dhyari. He was employed in Paris, where he was living with his family. He had come home on a holiday. He died while being treated at a hospital.
3 killed in US Nagar accidents:
Three persons were killed in separate accidents reported from Udham Singh Nagar during the past 24 hours. Reeta of the Sanjay Van area in Rudrapur was going to a market on a bicycle with her neighbour when a group of monkeys attacked them. The woman fell down from the pillion seat of the bicycle and was run over by a truck coming from behind. In another incident, Vinay Maurya of Chakhferi was killed when the motorcycle on which he was riding was hit by a mini truck near Parle Chowk. He was on his way to Chattarpur along with a friend. He died on the spot. In the third instance, Naresh Pal was killed when he was run over by a truck in Rudrapur. He was a resident of Faridpur in Bareilley. The drivers of all three trucks are absconding.
Nepal man found dead:
A resident of Mahendra Nagar district of Nepal was found dead in the Gadhikot area on the border in the Tanakpur area of Champawat district. The deceased has been identified as 62-year-old Dhanbahadur Chand. His body was discovered by a forest guard who informed his seniors in the Forest Department. An inspection of the body led to the discovery of a cheque book with the help of which the identity of the deceased was established. It was later learnt that the deceased had come to Chakarpur to meet his relatives four days back.
