Well-attuned…
Brought up in Jamshedpur and working in Mumbai, Panna Gill shot his first Punjabi album in Himachal Pradesh — well, the world is certainly coming closer especially when it’s the territory of art!
In Chandigarh, on Friday, Panna, who debuted with a Hindi album as a singer in 2007, launched his first Punjabi collection Heeriye. “It’s my New Year gift to Punjabis,” says the singer. Rugged jeans and a messy hair look, he does not just carry these two trademarks of the young generation but also oodles of confidence! So many Punjabi singers releasing their albums, does fierce competition bother him? “No. As long as your work is good, you will find your own fan-following,” he says nonchalantly. His track runs for a minute and we know what makes him so certain. Panna bears his father’s (known devotional singer Lakhbir Singh Lakha) stamp. “He has been my first Guru and I have inherited singing from him,” says Panna who has also been learning classical music under Ghulam Mustafa Khan. But it’s not just music that he wants to stop at. Trained in acting at Roshan Taneja’s, Panna is looking for a break in Bollywood but is not open to TV shows. “Television requires a lot of time. Between recordings as well as shows, I cannot afford that much time,” says Panna. India Idol (Season 2) got him recognition and Panna is all for the show. “It’s such a great platform for newcomers,” he says. Back to Heeriye...released by T-Series, it has seven tracks. “One would find a good variety. From soft rock to jazz, pop and romantic, you will find seven different colours of music in the album,” says the singer who has also penned down a song Mele Nu Chal Mere Naal. He stars in the videos, which have been shot in Manali, as well. “It’s so beautiful that I couldn’t help but shoot both the songs there.” While creating music and regaling audiences with live shows, Panna is waiting for an acting assignment and is open to the Punjabi industry. “I know I have it in me to make it ‘big’ in the times to come,” says this Hrithik fan who wants to be a complete entertainer like his hero — actor, dancer , performer — and yes, he can dance! mona@tribunemail.com

Velvety touch
The cozy feeling in winter is undoubtedly doubled by velvet, a fabric that keeps you warm with its body-hugging composition. And velvet is the trend for winter - be it for women or men.
Women can drape the material in suits, blouses, patches on suits, sarees and stoles. Moving on to the Western style, it can be the one-piece dresses, tops, coats and trousers in velvet, which can be stitched or are readily available while the men can sport the shimmery velvet in suits. Also, the elegance of the suit increases when it is teamed up with a tie that has velvet patches. Says Abdul Halder, a well-known fashion designer, “Nowadays, men also readily wear this material; it definitely is posh. Also it is comfortable and looks chic when used in patches and prints.” He adds, “I have been using a lot of velvets, especially in my winter collection.” The silky velvet material is versatile and can be easily experimented with. Says Babi Grewal, owner of Babi’s Boutique in Sector-8, Chandigarh, “I have been using velvet since five years and it looks grand. The major plus point of velvet is that it can be easily dyed into any colour. There can be velvet salwars with brocade shirts, dupattas, stoles with velvet patches or the whole of them in colours like green and red.” She adds, “Though I’m not into men’s wear but this material surely works wonders for them as well.” For the ones who are not into Indian wear, there is lot of room for velvet in the westerns as well! Says Shelly from Shelly’s Wardrobe, Chandigarh, “One-piece dresses with straight cuts look glamorous and stylish. In our collection we have velvet dresses, tops, sweaters with velvet patches in bright colours. The best part about velvet is that even loud colours look subtle.” She adds, “There are also belts available with the embellishments made of velvet, which can be experimented as party wear.” While a full velvet suit may be a bit over-the-top for many men, a velvet evening blazer, which is very similar to traditional smoking jackets, does create a style statement. The high-end brands like Dolce & Gabbana, Lanvin, Canali, Gucci and Louis Vuitton endorse the luxurious velvet look consistently in their winter collections. Says Amit Kashyap, a Delhi-based designer, “Velvet is a very popular material worldwide and there is a lot of variety in it. The most common is the hand-made silk velvets, which is used by top brands. Men’s jackets in velvet with nice cuts look trendy, especially in black colour. A velvet coat or jacket can be bottomed up with a silk or a linen trouser.” He adds, “Though velvet for men is a bit formal, for women it can be worked out for a casual wear with less of embroideries.” One material and plenty of looks is what makes velvet the most elegant material, but remember it all depends on the way you carry it! sabiatalwar@tribunemail.com

One for friends!
There could have been no better day for the release of Jeet Jagjit’s fourth album Yaar Naginey than Lohri! At Hotel Toy, Sector-34, Chandigarh, he released the album amid his friends on Friday.
Jeet Jagjit, who is better known for the romantic genre, dedicates this particular album to his friends. Says Jeet Jagjit, “I’m into singing since childhood and now I’m a full-time musician.” He adds, “Yaar Naginey is dedicated to all youngsters because I’ve tried to give a lot of beats.” There are eight songs in the album, including Yaar Naginey, Pyar and Gabru. The lyrics have not been composed by Jeet Jagjit and he has experimented with a lot of writers. So are the lyrics important, “We remember the old songs because they had meaningful lyrics. The trends in music will keep changing, but the lyrics will always have their own value.” He adds, “I give shaayri a lot of importance and that is why I idolise Gurdaas Mann and Harbhajan Mann.” These days we see a lot of singers have a song for the gabrus of Punjab; is this a trend? “The meaning of gabru is a young guy from Punjab, so it is essential to give them a strong identity,” says Jeet Jagjit. Born and brought up in Fatehgarh Sahib and living in Mohali for the past fifteen years, Jeet Jagjit is happily married with two kids. “I come from an agricultural background and I’m a pure desi.” Jeet Jagit does riyaaz for two hours daily. So are movies next in the line? “I feel you should excel in whatever you have at hand and then think of other things. My albums speak about me so I have to sing well and also perform well first.” His first album came in 2005 by the title ‘Chor Akhiyan’ and he had to fund it himself. “I want to make a mark in the Punjabi industry, but only through my hardwork. For my present album I’m honoured to have worked with SM Sadiq, a Pakistani lyricist, who has written the song ‘Pyar’.” He adds, “Lucky Sarinh is a young person who has written the lead song ‘Yaar Naginey’. He is a new talent and deserves every chance.” As of now Jeet Jagjit is busy promoting his album, which has been released worldwide.

Cool quotient
Anand Kumar, better known as Andy, the VJ from Channel V, sitting in the canteen of Chandigarh College of Architecture in prominent green is reflective — “the ceiling of the canteen should be painted white or grey.” The conversation moves ahead with his favourite colour — “I love green because I love greenery and I love to see the birds,” says Andy.
The VJ, who shot to fame as the host of Dare 2 Date as well as Beauty and the Geek for Channel V, adds, “I was born in England; and was always into dancing as well as choreographing. I came to Mumbai in 2003 and got in touch with my friend Sheetal who was the creative head for Channel V. She recognised my talent and the rest, as they say, is history.” Andy co-hosted Get Gorgeous 5 with Pia Trivedi just as a trial and offers poured in, “It’s almost been three years since I have been working for Channel V now.” So, what is he like on television? “I love being myself; I’m as real and alive onscreen as I’m in my routine life. I’m crazy and keep laughing all the time.” And what is he like at home? “At home, I’m a much calmer person and into meditation. I believe in all religions.” Andy is into theatre and choreographing and has done a lot of shows and plays. “Theatre does help a lot in VJing as you get to know how to prepare with the help of a script; and most of my shows are non-scripted.” All of us who have followed the Beauty and the Geek have failed to notice that Andy had to sport a three-piece suit and that too on the beaches. “I do my own styling; buy material for my costumes and also fabricate them.” He adds, “I keep myself updated with the fashion weeks going on around the world and feel that it’s not important to wear branded clothes, but it is essential to wear fitted clothes that suit your body type.” Then there are people who hate Andy — what does he feel about that? “I love all the criticism and all publicity is good. I have almost 40,000 friends on Facebook and include those who might hate me, but are in contact with me,” quips Andy. He adds, “I accept myself and I know that there is no one like me out there in the VJ fraternity, so I have no competition.” sabiatalwar@tribunemail.com

At the Chandigarh Club on Thursday, Satinder made a brief appearance to promote her latest album Rubruu. “I am glad that people have accepted me as a singer. The love that my first two albums Peeng’ and Moh got is a proof of that. With Rubruu people get to know more of me, as the album has both songs as well as poetry by me,” says Satti, who loves to read Ghalib. Satinder has also turned director with this album.” We shot the first video Yadaan in Sydney and another one in Punjab,” she shares with us enthusiastically. But then that’s not it. “I have got good offers from Bollywood and in all likelihood my movies will hit the screens by February end,” she claims. Punjabi cinema? “I am very forthright; the fact is that I have no great roles coming my way here. Either I am not worth Punjabi cinema or simply it cannot afford Satinder Satti,” she says. But that in no way lessens her love for the land. “I am proud to be from Shiv Kumar Batalavi’s city. And trust me, ten years down the line, Punjabis across the globe would be proud of this girl,” she says with aplomb. It’s international cinema where this Punjabi star wants to shine next. Miss Body Beautiful
Jennifer Aniston has once again topped the list of the Most Desired Female Body in Hollywood at the age of 42, leaving 20-something stars Bar Rafaeli and Shakira behind. Aniston had emerged the winner three years ago in the survey compiled by Beverly Hills plastic surgeons Richard W Fleming and Toby G Mayer.
In 2010 singer Stacy ‘Fergie’ Ferguson grabbed the top spot. Last year Aniston came in a close second to supermodel Gisele Bundchen, and the crown returned to the actress in 2012. While the relatively older Aniston may have the most coveted total package, younger stars are filling in more and more slots on the body parts lists. “The biggest shift over the past year is that the younger celebrity group is emerging — people like Katy Perry. The celebrity faces are what people refer to as an example because they like the way they look and they refer to these celebrities when they are considering plastic surgery,” Fleming said. —PTI

Movie Meter
Movie: Chaalis Chauraasi When star-studded high-budget films shot in exotic locales fail to entertain, here comes a small budget film that is light and breezy. It manages to not only entertain but also brings laughter in its tow. A comedy film Chaalis Chauraasi, so titled after the number of a stolen van, revolves around four men. Living on the margins of society; actually outlaws of sorts, they hatch a robbery plot to get out of the rut they are trapped in and the plot of the movie engages from the word go. Be it their eccentric acts together or their individualistic idiosyncratic backgrounds…all have enough masala to keep the movie rolling. Of course, the later half is more rib-tickling. Even the slapstick action despite the implausibility factor works well. With no superstars to boast of, powered by a battery of fine actors who fit into their characters like gloves, the film sails smoothly on their histrionic ability and perfect comic timing. Without doubt all actors; be it the professor of English (Naseeruddin Shah), a car thief (Kay Kay Menon) obsessively in love with vintage fiat model, a drug peddler sans guilt (Ravi Kishan), singer-turned-pimp (Atul Kulkarni) and even the gangster played by Zakir Hussain are in excellent form. In fact, it's hard to say who is better than the other for all characters are well-etched and suitably fleshed out. No overshadowing business here, all find equal footage. Director Hriday Shetty keeps the script (not flawless though) and the pace together. Even the songs Hawa Hawa and Setting Zala in the movie take nothing away from the flow, rather they gel with the basic flavour of the film that is realistic and funny. Indeed, the irony of how the real cops are far worse off swindlers than those who masquerade as them to pull off a robbery is not lost on the viewer. But otherwise the film refrains from preaching or conveying any message. As one of its key character says, “don't lecture me”, the film stirs clear of good versus bad drama. Instead, it finds dramatic tension in the twists and turns the movie takes. Finally, a heist film that strikes home.

First-day-first show
Comic cops
Chaalis Chauraasi is like a rollercoaster ride in an amusement park, except that it takes place in a police van. The story of the film revolves around a police van - MH-02-A- 4084 and four cops Pankaj Suri aka Sir (Naseeruddin Shah), Albert Pinto aka Pinto (KK Menon), Balvinder Singh aka Bobby (Atul Kulkarni) and Shakti Chinappa aka Shakti (Ravi Kishan); who see an opportunity to a great future when they are given a mission to pull off. The story gets a twist when another cop stops their van en-route and takes them as his backup to catch a dangerous gangster. The story unfolds through the night where the fine line between law and crime is repeatedly crossed, leading to unexpected situations, sometimes very hilarious. The four guys who think of themselves as very rough and tough, encounter situations where they are forced to reckon with a different truth about themselves. Good start The beginning is good with interesting comic timings. The plot of the story is dragged but towards the end the humour resurfaced. Jyoti Handa, student, PU Stunning performances Naseerudin's performance is stunning and even Ravi Kishan has acted well. The dialogues are very impressive and a realistic approach is showcased. Bharat Sharma, bank employee One-time affair A one-time watch which manages to tickle your funny bone. The remix of the song Hawa Hawa is noteworthy along with the power-packed performances of the star cast. Rohit, student, GGDSD College (As told to Sabia Talwar)

Men, it's party time
So, the wedding season has ended and so have the New Year bashes. But if you are one of those who recently tied the knot, invitations for lunches, dinners and evening soirées must still be pouring in.
Surely you don't want to go for any of these dressed like an over done groom. Shweta Uttam, a pass-out from NIFT, is the answer to all you party woes. Under her label, Shoolin Designs, the young designer has just launched a very suave collection of party wear for men. Having worked under brands like CK and Armani, Shewta is trying to bring the international concepts of stitching, fits and fabrics for the domestic market. Also specialising in custom-fits and tailoring, her recently launched exclusive men's boutique is a one-stop-shop for all dressier dos. “Since I have worked for several up market brands, I am trying to keep the quality by procuring the same fabrics and giving the same stitching styles,” she says. Apart from ripple pleating and triangular pleating, the shirts go perfectly well under tuxedoes. “The bib yoke shirts with a Mandarin collar go very well for formal occasions but at the same time present a very simple look,” she adds. The sheen of plasticol printing is a movement from the monotone shades in a man's wardrobe. And if there is the exotic tweed you picked up and don't know where to get the perfect trench coat stitched from, Shewta should be able to give it the perfect magazine look. vasudha@tribunemail.com

Height of luxury
Ludhiana is all set to get Punjab's tallest tower in 109-m high India International Habitat Centre. India International Habitat Centre (IIHC) is a 109m high-tech glass and steel facade skyscraper and will have the distinction of being Punjab's tallest iconic luxury tower.

Strategically located and having close proximity to the city centre and airport, IIHC is expected to have a strong appeal to business travellers. According to Amit Gupta, vice-chairman and managing director, Aerens Gold Souk International, says India International Habitat Centre is going to bring state-of-the-art high-tech luxury to the city. “It is time Ludhiana started getting big attractive buildings to claim the undeniable title of being a metropolitan city. Star Track
Emraan Hashmi was part of Murder 2 and The Dirty Picture. Both films are among the biggest hits of the year. Yet, he has not scored award nominations for them. He couldn’t care less.
Emraan says that he doesn’t like attending award functions and he doesn’t even care for the nominations. ‘It is a pain to sit through the circus and there is more than meets the eye when it comes to nominations. Only a dozen people decide if it is a jury award and that doesn’t really count for me. I would rather be the choice of a billion people.’ His reward comes from audiences who make his films run at cinemas. He says, ‘I will only perform or attend an awards function if I am paid to do so.’ He follows in the footsteps of Salman Khan who will also attend award functions if he is paid and Aamir Khan, who refuses to attend commercial Indian award functions. ‘I haven’t been to award ceremonies though I have many hit songs but I know that people love me. That is why my films work and I am getting so many more films and different roles. They connect with me and that is what matters to me,’ he says. Emraan Hashmi may have no award nominations this year but he has his hands full with several interesting films. He will be seen in Shanghai, Raaz 3, Jannat 2, a Karan Johar production, a Vishal Bhardwaj film, and some more.
Neelam clears the air
Actress-turned-jewellery designer Neelam Kothari has cleared the air about her alleged role in spreading rumours about Priyanka Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan. Earlier, a daily had reported that Priyanka was miffed with Neelam for spreading false news about her affair with King Khan. It was also claimed that Priyanka and Neelam had an ugly spat over the same issue.
Neelam took to Twitter to clarify her role. “Don’t know how to react to a certain article that has come out today, claiming that I am responsible for starting certain rumours. I’m shocked and hurt with these allegations. This is the first time in the whole of my career I have been dragged into a controversy. Not fair at all!! Gauri and Sharukh happen to be my dear friends and will continue to be so.. Would never say anythin derogatory about them,” Neelam tweeted. Neelam also said that she never had any kind of fight with Priyanka Chopra. “As for Priyanka Chopra. No we have never had a fight. Get your facts right people,” she tweeted.
Meanwhile, Priyanka is yet to react to the incident. — PTI
Apple of Aamir’s eye
Aamir Khan is a bit free these days and the actor-producer is keeping himself busy spending time in watching his newborn son grow up.
“Hope the new year has begun well for you all. Me, I’m spending all my free time with Azad. Love. a,” the 46-year-old posted on his Facebook page. Aamir and his second wife Kiran Rao’s son was born on December 1 last year, to a surrogate mother through IVF. The couple has named the boy Azad, named after freedom fighter and independent India’s first education minister Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Aamir’s great grand uncle. The actor, who also has a son, Junaid, and a daughter, Ira, from his first wife Reena, loves playing with his new bundle of joy. This year, he will be seen only in one project. He will feature alongside Rani Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor in Reema Kagti’s Talaash, a psychological thriller written and directed by Reema Kagti. This apart, he has also joined hands with Star Plus for a talk show, said to be completely for the masses. He has sent out an open invite to his fans, who wish to be a part of the show’s audience. “Those of you living in Mumbai, and interested in being a part of the audience on my TV show, please write to audience@akpfilms.in. Further details will be given to you once you write here.”
A beautiful love story
Madhur Bhandarkar’s Heroine primarily revolves around Kareena Kapoor’s character, but Arjun Rampal asserts it is a beautiful love story.
“Bebo is the protagonist of the film and she has a very good part in it. But it is also a beautiful love story about what happens to two characters from the same line of work and how much misunderstanding is created by people who are supposed to make that communication easier,” the 39-year-old actor said at an event here. Kareena plays an actress who touches the heights of fame and then falls from glory. Asked about his role, Arjun said: “It’s going to be a Madhur Bhandarkar film which deals with a lot of layers of reality and that’s what I enjoy doing. I like all my characters to have a certain level of realism. I hope
to portray it with conviction and not in a caricaturist manner.” Arjun debuted in Bollywood with 2001 movie Pyaar, Ishq Aur Mohabbat but had to wait for a long time to find a firm foothold. He was first appreciated for his role in Don - The Chase Begins (2006) and then people liked him in the negative role in Om Shanti Om. But he came into his own as a brooding musician in Rock On!! and continued it with Raajneeti. Heroine is expected to hit theatres September this year. — IANS
Workaholic director
Critically acclaimed director Steven Spielberg has revealed that he ensures that he always has a movie in the pipeline because he finds himself “miserable” and “in a terrible state” if he does not have any project to develop. The 65-year-old, whose latest film War Horse has been tipped to dominate the awards season, admitted that his wife of 19 years, Kate Capshaw, and their kids dread him being without work because he becomes “a terror to live with”.
“Ask my wife and my children what it’s like to have me without a movie in my immediate future to direct,” he says.
“I mope. I walk around the house in a terrible state. I’m miserable when I don’t have something that I can immediately jump into,” he added. —ANI
Rani to rock
Our source tells us, Dhoom 3 was supposed to release in December 2012 but the film will now release in 2013. The filming has been postponed because Aamir Khan is busy with the post production and release of Talaash till June. So filming for Dhoom 3 will begin in November and Aamir needs time to build his physique to look like a gymnast. So Rani also has enough time to decide if she wants to do the film and prepare for her role. Both the Dhoom films have had two heroines.
The first film had Esha Deol and Rimi Sen and the second film had Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Bipasha Basu. So this film has Katrina Kaif and Rani might take up the role of the other heroine.’
The source continues, ‘Rani shares a great rapport with Yash Raj as she is almost like family. She has not had a major role since No One Killed Jessica earlier this year. She has turned down films.
This film will be huge for her because she will get a new image and she will only do it if she likes the role and finds it challenging and worthy of her talent. Moreover, she gets along fabulously with Aamir Khan. They have worked in Ghulam and Talaash and are friends so their chemistry will be something to watch out for.
People have also liked seeing Rani and Abhishek in films in the past so it is a win-win situation for everyone.’ Will Rani take up the movie? We will know soon!
Best Baby Name
Victoria and David Beckham’s daughter Harper Seven has topped the poll for the best-named tot of the year. BabyCenter announced its annual list of most and least favourite celebrity baby names.
Rod and Penny Lancaster Stewart’s son named Aiden was a hit with voters, as was Craig and Megan Ferguson’s son Liam James, a publication reported. Many voters were also fond of Pink and Carey Hart’s daughter Willow Sage and Ivanka Trump and Jared Kusher’s daughter Arabella Rose. However, Alicia Silverstone and Christopher Jarecki’s son Bear Blu found least favour with the voters. Moroccan Scott, chosen by Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon as a homage to a room in her NYC apartment, was also not appreciated by BabyCenter voters. Jennifer Connelly and Paul Bettany’s daughter’s name, Agnes Clark, was also a least favorite, along with Mike Myers and Kelly Tisdale’s son Spike and Danny and Gia McBride’s son Declan George. — ANI
New address
Daniel Craig and wife Rachel Weisz have splashed 11.5 million dollars on a New York penthouse. The 43-year-old actor and Weisz are set to buy the three-bedroom, three-bathroom apartment in the SoHo area of Manhattan. They have reportedly settled on the plush looking building after an exhaustive property search of the city. The apartment boasts 4,350-square-foot of floor space and was listed for the sum. The couple has 2,000 square feet of outdoor space consisting of a private roof garden with its own kitchen, along with a media room with woodburning fireplace. — ANI
Descendants unfolds beautifully: Clooney
Hollywood superstar George Clooney, who stars in Oscar front runner The Descendants, says the Alexander Payne directed movie unfolds slowly and beautifully onscreen. The film, which will be released in India by Fox Star Studios on January 26, will see the actor surprise his fans with an unpretentious performance of a clueless father grappling with two young girls while his wife lies comatose in a hospital bed following a boating accident.
“I thought it was the best screenplay I’d read in a long, long time. When you look for trailers for this film, it’s very hard to explain it, because it’s a film that so slowly unfolds. So beautifully unfolds. It’s hard to describe the screenplay. You start reading it and you’re involved from the minute you start. By the end you’re really taken by it,” Clooney said in a statement. With 5 Golden Globe nominations already as well as being chosen as the best film of 2011 by Los Angeles Film Critics Association, The Descendants is expected to do well at major film awards this year, starting with the approaching Oscars in February. “George is right for the part and he’s a terrific actor. He is a real pro and I couldn’t be more positive about him. He has spent most of his adult life on a film or TV set ; that’s where he feels very comfortable and it shows. He is so at home,” the director said. —PTI
Bipasha looking for romance…
Bipasha Basu loves romance. By that we mean she loves romantic comedies. Her upcoming film Jodi Breakers is the first romantic comedy of her career in which she is the sole female lead. She talks about rom-coms, bikinis, fitness, films, and more.
Bride wars Bride Wars is my favourite movie. I would love to do the Indian remake of it. I will have to play Kate Hudson's character because I am crazy like her. Actress friends I think actresses cannot be friends because it is not practical. We are very busy people. The unit becomes like a family when you shoot but this family changes every time you do a new film. I get along with Sonam and am very fond of her. While shooting, you spend more time with the male stars because you are paired with them so I don't know how it works. Bikini in Players Oh my God! I love the response I got to it because everybody who saw the movie was talking about it. I worked very hard for it. I toned my body to fill out the bikini nicely. I wanted to look good in it and look different than what I did in Dhoom 2. I am a big girl and toned and curvy is the image I have and I want to keep. Romantic comedy It is interesting that I have not really done a romantic comedy in my career before. I am very excited about Jodi Breakers. I think people didn't cast me because I have a sexy image and you need to have a sober or girl-next-door image to do a romantic comedy. I want to explore this genre. Life’s lessons I believe in being happy and in being full of energy and life. That is just the way I am. I cannot fake. I believe in gratitude and am also thankful to myself because I know I have come a long way from where I started and I have lived life and achieved what I wanted on my own terms. I believe in seeing the good side of life and situations. Upcoming movies I have Jodi Breakers coming up, then there is Raaz 3, Race 2, and my Hollywood film Singularity. — HRM

Chatter Box
She was touted as the Indian Shakira. But somehow after her stint in the reality show Sa Re Ga Ma, Mauli Dave moved away from the limelight. Now, with the lead song of Players in her kitty, the sensuous singer is back with a bang. Understandably, the girl who was born and brought up in Houston, is happy at her long thought of and difficult decision to relocate to India. "The title track of Players with Pritam is my fourth Hindi film song. Prior to this, I have sung for films like Bal Ganesh, Jai Veeru and Mittal v/s Mittal," says the girl who shot to fame after her rendition of Maiya maiya in Sa Re Ga Ma.
"While I did gain a lot of fame through that song, it did a lot of damage as well. I was instantly tagged as a singer who was good only for sensuous numbers. Thankfully, I have finally been able to break free from that image," she adds. How did she manage to get out of the difficult typecast? "I am grateful to the album Bartender Mix for breaking this myth! Mike made me sing four songs in the album and none of them were sensuous numbers. I sang golden hits, including Waqt ne kiya and Chalte chalte and the album was a big hit. People realised that I could sing other songs!

That is the acting school he joined; She was her senior in the acting classes he took in Mumbai to improve his acting skills. Though he never spoke to her, he always liked her as an actress. He has seen Anushka's films, including Rab Ne Bana Ji Jodi, Band Baaja Baaraat and Patiala House and loves the spunk she brings to her character. She is definitely on the wish list of film actresses he wants to work with if he gets a chance to get into films. Well, wishes do become reality if your intention is strong. All the best Mrunal! First and the best
Vivian D Sena's claim to fame on television would be Balaji's show Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahaani in which he played a vampire and then a human. We quiz Vivian aka Abhay about the first things in his life…
First salary When I was as an 18-year-old, I had walked at a ramp show and for this I had got Rs 3, 500 and this was the first professional pay of my career. I gave this to my mom as she is the world for me. First car Just a few months back I bought Hundayi's latest model Verna and I am happy that finally I have a car of my own. It's something that I always wanted. First house I have own house in my hometown-Ujjain and now I am planning to buy a new home for my mom in suburban Mumbai and I am planning to buy it very close to my place of work. First holiday My first holiday, which is most memorable was in Goa. I had gone with Vahbbiz and few close friends of mine. I went to Goa after my birthday and truly it is the most memorable holiday with my close friends. First claim to fame It has to be this show—Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahaani. This show has given me fame, name and money. I am also thankful that it was on the sets of this show that I met the love of my life Vahbbiz. I am fortunate enough to play this unique role of Abhay and luckily audiences have accepted me. First love For me, it's my mother, who has done everything for me and now it's my fiancé Vahbbiz Dorabjee and my mother-in-law. — HRM
